Montreal’s We Are Wolves are back with their fifth studio album. Wrong, the new record will be out on September 30th. This is the first LP the three piece has released since La Mort Pop Club, which came out in February 2013.
The band has released “I don’t mind”, the second single off it via Bandcamp. The single is captivating and sultry as it incorporates catchy disco sounds to the indie rock elements We Are Wolves has mastered throughout their career.
We Are Wolves are vocalist-bassist Alexander Ortiz, Vincent Levesque on keyboards and backing vocals, and drummer-vocalist Pierre-Luc Bégin. Their debut album, Non-Stop je te plie en deux, came out in 2005.
The band has also announced a release show on September 28 at the Matahari Loft in Montreal and over a dozen dates across La Belle Province.
Check out We Are Wolves’ new single “I don’t mind” below.

Good morning!
Morning Russ!
Martin! How goes?
Pretty well, busy with work and kids. Yourself?
Hello all!
All good here!
Good morning,
I can’t stick around here this morning, but I wanted to wish REGINULA Happy Birthday!
And Facebook sayeth that ex-FOTY John Teeter has also changed numbers on his odometer today. (That should be spelled “odometre”. Isn’t though.)
Good morning! Looking forward to listening to the We Are Wolves a bit later today
Good morning everyone!
Happy Birthday @Reginula!
So… we figured out where the pallets wound up after the Port Lands at NXNE…
http://www.airdrieecho.com/2016/09/06/resident-frustrated-with-illegal-dumping
HA!
That resident is not a young person. A younger person would have (probably? certainly?) had a smartphone, and would have run and taken a picture of the truck (licence plate, eh?). Gotcha!
happy birthday, Reg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it’s funny…in English, we can shorten your name and people would say it “rej”
but in Spanish, doesn’t work so well…
ha…that’d be one long drive to dump pallets from the Port Lands
Hello
Hi, garfield. Back home? So, what ended up working, and what screwed up?
Feliz cumpleaños Regina
@BfO, I got back home around 2am this morning, only around 90 minutes late. The fact that I got on a train leaving 30 minutes earlier than my planned departure time probably helped.
I still need to look into how to claim compensation.
Compensation for lateness? That’s a thing? For rail?
If the train is delayed more than 30 minutes you get 50% back up to 100% back for over 2 hours
https://www.virgintrainseastcoast.com/customer-service/delay-repay
Good morning!
I like We Are Wolves.
Going to Edmonton for Sept 21-23 for work. Any shows?
Looks like I could go see D.O.A on the 22nd!
garf.: yow, I’d forgotten that England (and perhaps also the other, wilder parts of GB) run trains ON TIME, at least in theory.
Here, something happens, blocking the only railway between A and B, they’ll get you the rest of the way by bus. “A claim? You must be joking. You got a doughnut, didn’t you? Um, no?”
“runs”
@BfO, We have the dreaded “bus replacement service” here quite often. The problem is over there you have passenger trains running on freight lines where as here it is the other way around and most of our freight ships over night when there are less passenger trains around.
Hello! Thank you so much for the birthday love. Means a lot coming from you!
(Also, isn’t it a bit of an apocalyptic coincidence or something that Mr. Teeter and I share a birthday?)
Yes, yes it is.
reginula, it’s merely a cosmic alignment, is all.
Happy birthday Reginula!
Hello, I’m not able to spend time on the blog today, but I had to stop by because:
Happy Birthday, dear Regina!! <3 😀 I hope you are having a wonderful day!
ok, I bought 3 tickets to D.O.A! Woot woot
Thank you so much, Samara! <3
And thanks Janet, Garf, Krib, Justin, Shonica and everyone on FB -but I'll reply those later when I'm less busy!-
My bet is that all of the FOTYs have the same birthday, now wouldn’t that be weird, Happy Birthday Reg! OH and Garf!
Not us…
@Reg…. Do you have fun Birthday plans? Besides hanging out with us….
@Wynnzie, Is it like the Queen, this is our “official birthday”
Thanks Wynnzie! That would be weird. OR we could make up some prophecy: Check how many years there are between tb3 and me, and announce the anti-christ or whatever will be born on September 7, (+years after I was born)
@Justin I’ll have dinner with the boyfriend – there’s a huge chance I’ll drag him to Chuck E. Cheese’s for that – and I may take the intern to the bakery in a minute to share a slice of cake.
(You think office birthday’s with cake are lame? I wish I had those. Here people think cakes and birthdays and anything happy is ridiculous)
Official birthday would be nice, for FOTY
The September edition of Plain A.I.R. is Brain Damage, hosted by local bum/beloved musician Carl Johnson (Library Voices, The Florals, Sad Carl). The show will centre heavily on experimental, independent and emerging Saskatchewanand Western Canadian music along with some hard right turns into classic and cult genre movie scores, and more.
Plain A.I.R is an artists-in-residence radio program, a live radio “space”, which encourages creative expression and experimentation. Each month Plain A.I.R features a new local artist, DJ, musician, band or community member as a guest host who programs a month’s worth of live, weekly radio shows. The program airs Saturday afternoons from 2-4pm on 91.3FM in Regina, on-line at cjtr.ca, via our free mobile app and on channels 700 on Access and 806 on Sasktel.
This is what I was caught up in yesterday
http://www.retfordtimes.co.uk/lines-between-retford-and-doncaster-shut-until-tomorrow/story-29689855-detail/story.html
garf, you see, if they still used editors, you woudn’t (likely) get “A locomotive is currently en-route to two the stranded train.”
I noticed that as well
By editor I meant proofreader, of course. But it could be an editor, what do I know? Another pair of eyes, anyway.
Whoa, I haven’t been on in a while and everything is new and fancy. I’m liking the single and will be checking out the album when it comes out later this month.
Happy Birthday Reg!
birthday (((hugs))) for tb3 and reginula!!!
Hi Switters! Welcome to the new Basement! Thanks! And thanks Morgana <3
and how is everyone else this morning?
the unpacking, laundry, groceries and back to school part of our return from vacation are accomplished so today is going to be full of food making. Time to make pesto!
I rather enjoyed this: “A1 gridlocked after crash between lorry and horsebox.”
where were you going on the train, garf? I wonder if you saw my mom, she was on the train yesterday (or maybe today) going from York to London.
Also, Scrooby is an hilarious name. England has so many funny place names.
@morgana… I am busy as ever with work… am meeting a old co-worker I don’t know very well but she was always cool when I saw her. She might be interested me me, not sure, but we’re going out for a beer later. And… I could be interested in her… hmm. Or, I’m fine with friends only too, who knows.
The Polaris Prize posters are out…
Andy Shauf’s is gorgeous.
Did ya know it’s my birthday? https://twitter.com/PolarisPrize/status/773568648355061760
I left my horsebox in Scrooby-On-Wetshire.
Who is Wolves, anyway? Wolf bands is so … 2007. Like, y’know.
I’ve been trying to figure out what a horsebox is… no luck so far.
@FT, it’s a a trailer (or vehicle) used to transport horses
Last Thursday a horsebox went up in flames near Elkesley.
@justingrady it must be confusing to be “out there”, not knowing if you are just hanging out or on a date or what … I hope you enjoy your visit no matter which label the outing ends up receiving:)
do i have a short attention span or am i just always on the look out for new musicians on the horizon?
@Morgana, Squirrel!
Hi Morgana!
Firewood, dogs, and truck:
https://www.instagram.com/p/BKAGO0hjVNO/?taken-by=jeremyhachey
@garfielduk what kind of music do they make? alt rock, synth pop, country …
😉
just got a weird message; “you are posting too fast. slow down”. and then my post did not go up the first time …
@funhog howdy stranger! DOA look like fun:) I am holding Basia Bulat as well as a triple header of TPC, Elwyns and Born Ruffians tickets at the moment. There are some great shows coming to Rossland that I have to figure out how to get to too.
Marti from Imaginary Cities new project Lanikai on Noisetrade!

@morgana… right… RE out there. I’ll just take the situation (date?) as it comes, will be fun regardless. I have no expectations except to have a cool time.
saw Lanikai play a little while back – good stuff.
Birthday wise, it’s also the drummer from Mobina Galore’s birthday today. They’re doing some shows across the west right now.
PS, I tried typing responses to the horsebox thing, but was told i was posting too fast and after two times of that I gave up.
All…. I will look into that ‘too fast’ bug….
justin grady, and maybe a lil’ sumpin’ sumpin’ know’msayinnnnn
I am guessing the commenting script it written to limit the flow of comments to combat spam.
Hi Morgana!
Dayglo is also playing with D.O.A.
D.O.A has been around since 1978 – Vancouver (the year I was born!)
Dayglo as been around since 1979 – Victoria
I think the spam filter needs checking
@justin – When the dude asked me out for drinks, I had to ask “Is this a date?”. I needed to be clear. It might be awkward but I like to know. Have fun whatever it is!
@funhug – Nice! I wish it lined up with one of my trips to Edmonton.
Har har Garf!
Mmmm, spam
@funhog you are a youngin” aint ya!!
any thought put into your birthday maybe being at a show in Nelson?
@Darbar… now I’m curious… how did The Dude answer your question? I know how things turned out…. 😛
I’ve never had SPAM before. But I’ve never had Nutella either. Other than that, I’ve tried everything ever invented.
RE tonight… She contacted me out of the blue and asked to meet up… so sure!
@FT… Nutella is awesome, def worth a try. Spam, as in the the meat product, if there is nuclear apocalypse, it will get the job done.
@justin – I went back to look at that convo and his reply was “Yes!”. hehe
@Darbar… good thing he was enthusiastic about it! He could have said… “ah sure, eh?”
Exactly! He does say that a lot when I tell him something.
I’m not entirely confident that I’ve ever actually tried Spam, something about it grosses me out.
Also I should clarify that my earlier comment should have been written in sarcasm font.
@ Morgana. Not sure when I’ll be in Nelson next. We are planning a trip to Ucluelet / Tofino for the last week of September. I’m good friends withe Executive Chef at Blackrock Resort. Also heading to his wedding in Costa Rica in April 2017!!!!!!!
Spam is one of those things I grew up being fed. Usually we had it with macaroni and tomato I seem to recall.
A family of 5 kids on dad’s wage. We were rationed and ate some things I won’t eat now.
Apparently a new iPhone is being presented as I type.
The most common joke in my feed? “I already lost the wireless earphones just from looking at the picture”
Speaking of @morgana and Nelson… is a early December ski trip still in the plans? I still gotta deliver my cargo from @Garf to @Morgana too. Can we get all of the (former) R3 western provinces people there?
(Also, if you want to give old Regina a birthday present, tell your friends to like our FB page or follow us on TW)
Def @reg! Will do!
Good afternoon everyone!
My daughter &her beau are heading to NYC this month for 10 days. Last night I was looking to see if there are any shows worth checking out while they are there. I found out Wilco (one of her favourites) is playing a Brooklyn record shop, but you had to do an in-store purchase of their new album to get into the show on Sept 22nd. I should have looked into it sooner, because the sale started yesterday and sold out before the day was over. Her beau’s brother is working and living in NYC and could have gone and picked up the album to get her in to see Wilco. 🙁
Aww so close to an incredible experience.
@funhog taking the kids out of school in the first month! I used to do that too but we are into the double digit grades now so we are trying to be good and not take her out of school too much … November is going to get a few days added to the stat to make a trip with Gramma to go to Lanai and Molaki. Costa Rica sounds amazing! I have never been to a destination wedding. Really only been to five weddings actually.
@shonica I say they should show up anyway! You never know until you try, right?!
You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.
okay okay!
It just ate my comment.
What I was saying,
Does anyone have any suggestions? Would you go to the record store the day of and hope the sell some No-show peoples spots?
I would go check it out and see what happens.
@funhug You better have a Mexico City layover with enchiladas and Reginulas for your Costa Rica trip.
@Shonica there’s always the option of messaging the store/the band and wearing the puppy eyes glasses to make a case of you not being able to buy it beforehand since you’re just visiting.
I’ve seen Wilco in Bend, Oregon a couple times, great band.
I would try and see if they can still get in, I’ve seen Wilco a couple times, and really enjoyed them live.
I just saw Wilco with Shonica at Interstellar Rodeo in Winnipeg. Such a good time!
Yeah, I’m going to tell her to go there that day and see what happens, if nothing else they can do some shopping at the record store while they are there, it can’t hurt to try.
Darbar,
I love Wilco, the whole family does and we have seen them a few times.
I’ve never seen Wilco. They’ve never played here, but I know some people who would go crazy with happiness if they came.
Oh, and please send Coeur de Pirate my way. I know she is famous enough to have a show here, so it would work, I think.
here’s the wilco article:
http://www.brooklynvegan.com/wilco-playing-rough-trade-this-month-buy-schmilco-today-to-get-in/
that would be neat to get into. I have a feeling though if you didn’t get a wristband, and you wanted in, you’d be told to fuhgetaboutit. Maybe a couple Benjamin’s for the doorman would help.
I get all my NYC/Brooklyn knowledge from tv & movies. hard to tell right?
We are all going to see a sold out Rodriguez show tonight at the concert hall. Should be fun, looking forward to it, part of her birthday gift.
shonica, my pilot was telling me all aboot that Rodriguez show tonight…should be a doozy. I’ve still never seen the Searching for Sugarman documentary!
Rodriguez?! You really know how to give me repeated cases of FOMO/ROMO Shonica! Have a great time!
It is a really good doc FT.
Sorry Darbar, for the FOMO/ROMO
It’s alright Shonica. I am happy for you. I will try to keep my jealousy in check. hehe
Rodriguez? Cool!
I saw Searching for Sugarman, then discovered his albums were available on eMusic, so I picked them up.
pretty good stuff. It’d been great to see a new album from him, 45 years later
I was always on the Son Volt side of the ex-Uncle Tupelo – Wilco debate, saw them play a couple times.
FT, you don’t know We Are Wolves? I guess you’re not as cool as we thought.
Rodriguez always makes me think of Neil now; a group dinner in Vancouver that involved multiple groups going to three different shows after food and drinks together …
That sound delicious Reginula! I totally want to drive down but my spidey senses tell me I shouldn’t (and wife).
So glad we met up that evening.
Bitter sweet memories.
@funhug Yeah, I wouldn’t recommend it either. I don’t know which bit of the whole route would be the scariest, to be honest. Northern Mexico? Central America? Spooooky
But you can always fly YVR-> MEX -> San José 😀 (I don’t even know if that’s the most common route, but makes sense airline and geography-wise)
hoping to use points for some of the flights so at the mercy of the shitty availability / shitty connections….
I could not get rid of the “slow down” without refreshing
My dream destination for a wedding is Toronto Island.
(._. )
@funhog it really was a special evening. even considering the bittersweetness that @darbar has mentioned I hold it close.
morgana, that’s standard. Copy your post before posting. Insurance.
Def @Reg… Toronto Island is badass.
@b from o it is a good thing i don’t have anything mind blowing to say because that sounds like too many steps to me.
PS while I was out walking my dog I saw a license plate that made me think of you; BFO 333
I have a feeling that the dream destination may have something to do with the dream groom hey @reg? your profile pic is a major hint;)
I have been on Toronto Island a couple times but the time in the fall was my favourite. Hardly anybody was there and all the lovely golden leaves carpeted the place. My mother, my son and I had a picnic and explored and it was great.
13:31, meh it’s a name I’ve heard but I couldn’t tell you a thing about them and less than 12 seconds of this WaW song was all I needed, doesn’t appeal to me really. I knew before hitting play it wouldn’t but I gave it the 10 sec test.
@Justin And we have a badass picture there!
You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.
GAHHHH, ok already.
I’ve never been to Toronto Island, aside from the Billy Bishop airport. Nice view of the skyline though.
@Morgana Bahahahahahaha, sadly this particular dream groom a) is taken b) I guess that be like, a Stanley Park wedding. Are those a thing?
Goodnight folks, chat tomorrow.
I think it happens more if others are posting at the same time.
We Are Wolves aren’t really my thing either.
Stanley Park certainly has had a wedding or two take place in it! I remember releasing chickens there when I was a kid but I have never been the type of girl that dreamed of my wedding day. still not married actually.
I thought that photos was from TO, my mix up sorry.
after listening to We Are Wolves offerings on Spotify I would have to agree with FT and Darbar.
I am relistening to Snowblink to determine how much effort I will put out to figure out a ride to Rossland to see them.
@Reginula…. this photo… awesome people, awesome Toronto view. @Tiff took it.
http://bit.ly/2c87eg8
@justingrady is it midnight and there is a power outage?
JustinG,
how’s the foot doing?
morgana, you should go see snowblink. I would love to be serenaded by her voice live.
@funhog so you are offering to drive then!
joking aside, i do hope that i can make it work.
sometimes they remind me of the coctoe twins. did you ever listen to them?
Hey @krib, thanks for asking! About my foot. It is getting there. I was *very* pleasantly surprised by how it felt yesterday. I did 9k with medium hill and slow pace. Just felt great. I kept waiting for the pain to come and it did’t. I have been doing my assigned exercises by the foot doctor and physical therapist. Seems to be helping.
I just spoke with a buddy of mine on Facebook from Houston. He invited me to run Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim when he does .. Cross it and back in a day… I’m like HECK YES! That run has been on my bucket list for a while now. So I def want to be healed up and trained for it.
https://gearjunkie.com/grand-canyon-rim-to-rim-to-rim-tips
@morgana It is! I just thought it was more fitting to marry Dan Mangan in Vancouver since he is from there.
I think I daydream about my wedding all the time, but then I realize I’m actually daydreaming of holding my own music festival. With tacos.
@Justin Bestestest place. Bestestest pic.
whoa. that’s crazy, man. 42 miles…and 10,000 ft elevation change (5,000 down and 5,000 up)
never heard of em. Are they the spooky sounding sisters?
@funhog no, they are a couple. you will have to go back a few decades to find them but it may be worth it.
https://play.spotify.com/artist/5Wabl1lPdNOeIn0SQ5A1mp
@reginula i hope i get invited to your wedding, i mean music festival! i know it would be an exceptionally good time considering your friends as well as choice in music and food.
PHEW! two double batches of pesto done!
I need to sit down for a while before I start dinner …
@garfielduk well that is the second link that i have tried today that gave me a background of “our basement” and a black screen otherwise. with the upgrades to this site do i have to change some filters or blockers or preferences or something …
hello @morgana, I think if you scroll to the top of the black screen you will find a sign in for spotify.
@Morgana, I don’t know, it is the first time I have heard of anyone having that problem. Was the first time for the image link Justin posted?
@garfielduk yes, thus the goofy comment about it being night time and a power outage.
@Morgana, I did wonder at the time but it makes sense now. While it doesn’t solve the problem I can show you the image
he says, hoping that works
(It didn’t)
@runabou aha, thanks!
so when you click on any links you have to scroll back up to the top of the page to see it!
so glad i am the idiot test around here;)
and of course it didn’t work
hello again @garfielduk and @morgana yep, when I click the link it opens in the same frame as the comments.
@garfielduk i have been able to click the links, wait for the blackness then scroll to the top.
it is a very sweet picture indeed.
I usually right click and select open in new tab, but I will add “find a way to make links open in a new tab by default” to the to do list
@garfielduk sorry i keep adding things to your to do list.
what can i do to make it better?
Send tickets to Vancouver so I can visit Nelson again or cookies, whichever is easier
To be fair I just search the internet for potential answers before handing them over to our crack(ed) team of experts Justin, Wes and, Wynnzie who make them work until we find out what that “fix” broke
g’night
well i posted and walked away for half an hour and now i see it did not stick!
what i said was;
@garfielduk name your flavour because i can’t make tickets in my kitchen.
good night
Here’s a new one:
“Duplicate comment detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that!”
And good morning!
