Good morning!
Hello
Good day.
How were your weekends?
Belgium Walloons block key EU Ceta trade deal with Canada

Walloons: yes, of course, unanimity…
Frigging hell. Brexit, and this; now all we need is Trump for the triple play.
NOOOOOOOOOO…
(I note the pretty red colour for the date, and links.)
Russ, ain’t gonna happen, I think. Even Trump’s been telegraphing — hell, outright stating by direct inference — his probable loss for weeks now, what with his “rigged soufflé” claims.
@BfO, I felt that links were hard to spot so I played around with their colour a bit to make them stand out a bit more
works.

Rather pretty. Very high slo-mo of a guy ‘sawing’ open a large bag of water. No guff. (from reddit)

Canadian Steve Poltz has penned a mega-hit for the singer Jewel. But he’s chosen the less-glamorous life of a touring musician

Good morning! I’m digging the colour change!
That hit was a long, long time ago. That aside, Steve Poltz is a favourite at the Black Sheep, a very genial and entertaining storyteller and singer is he.
@BfO, I saw that video as part of The National on Friday and thought it was worth sharing if only for it’s style
@Janet, thank you 🙂

The Adam Cohen interview (1st item on *q* this morning) is revealing. Of how old Leonard now is. Of their making this latest record.
Good morning everyone!
Hi jg!
Did anyone see the Mike Myers interview on The National last night? Pretty good.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/entertainment/mike-myers-canada-1.3817953
He talks about what it means to him to be a Canadian.
Hi Justin, I haven’t seen last nights edition yet (they are streamed and then shared on youtube in full)
Stepping out. Later!
I haven’t seen the interview, but read the article in the link you provided, Justin. I agree with Myers when he says there is no one more Canadian than a Canadian who no longer lives there. I didn’t think I was overly patriotic until I left Canada and realized how much I missed it.
Canada as described by Mike Myers

The interview video

Interesting how he has dark hair while talking to Ryan Gosling about Trudeau, yet he has grey hair in this interview
ha, I totally missed JG’s post up there
Geoff Kelley (from Spirit of the West) sang about exactly the same thing with respect to his parents in The Old Sod
“there’s none more Scots than the Scots abroad…”

I was thinking of that song too! I knew it was a Canadian artist, but couldn’t remember who sang it
Me, when I’m in Québec, I’m an Ottawa federalist; but talking to a Westerner, I’m an Easterner, and “French”, if not a Québécois, even though I don’t live in Qc.

@BfO, I love how the two trains just miss each other when the second one switches sides
I suspect there were a few previous tries, to get the timing just right.
Hi there, R3 blog underground. Hey Garry!
Bad news this morning from Royal Canoe in Montreal. Their trailer was stolen with all their gear in it. Shitty!
@Darbar, I heard that, what a shame. People are jerks sometimes.
Montreal is the capital of band equipment theft, I was told by a band, years ago.
Hello Mr Hower
I was just reading some comments on Royal Canoe’s page saying there is a pro ring of gear thieves out there. The gear may show up in other cities.
The whole trailer was stolen? Bummer. I wonder if it was still attached to their tow vehicle.
This was their message:
“Everyone! Our trailer was stollen in Laval/Montreal this morning. Here is a picture of the model of trailer from the internet, Montreal please share! License plate Z063G. If anyone sees our trailer please call the police. This is so devastating for us, it’s every bit of musical gear we own.
It had a hitch lock and we were in a well lit hotel parking lot, thieves must had tools to cut the metal. Feeling all sorts of emotions right now. Please share to help! (Liking as well, whatever gets this message out)”
They now have photos of the gear on their FB page.
macffl, no, I think; this was their message, in part: “Everyone! Our trailer was stollen in Laval/Montreal this morning. Here is a picture of the model of trailer from the internet, Montreal please share! License plate Z063G. If anyone sees our trailer please call the police. This is so devastating for us, it’s every bit of musical gear we own.

darbar, hah!
It’s like deja vu around here 🙂
Hehe
bands need to start buying themselves boot locks for their wheels
I had a utility trailer stolen out of my backyard. It was empty, and not very expensive…
2016 Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize Winning Albums Announced

I remember Grant telling me in the old Smuggler’s days, one of the band members would sleep in the van just to keep an eye on their equipment.
After that horrible break in of Said The Whale’s van at my house in 2009, I made them bring everything left inside my house But on their subsequent visits, with new locks installed on the trailer, the refused to bring it inside, trusting their new security locks.
Man… I just saw Royal Canoe in Portland…. and watched them load their trailer. They said they had just gotten a newer trailer and it was packed to the gills. Man… sorry to hear this.
By the way… If a Canadian band plays in Bend… I have a garage they could fit their entire trailer in, locked. I might pitch that to JPNSGRLS on Thursday’s show in Bend.
@Justin – Do you have a normal height garage door? I thought the same thing the next time STW came to Sacramento, and offered to put their trailer into my garage – but it was about three inches too tall! So they had to drag the trailer with them when we all went up to our foothill wineries on a mini tour!
How’s Duke?
They had a lot of gear in there for sure. I hate that this happens far too often.
The garage door is higher than normal so a trailer would likely fit.
Duke is doing awesome…

I love that photo of Duke!
Such a face! What a great photo, Justin!
And good night everyone! Talk to you tomorrow!
Bye Janet!

G’night folks, I’ll try to have something better for tomorrow
