Our playlist today is an ode to all those Ontario musicians we know and love. There is no shortage of talent coming out of that province that is for sure. Broken Social Scene, Rheostatics and Constantines have to be on the playlist but there are so many more and I just couldn’t get them all. Take a listen to the playlist and let me know who else you would like to have on there. Ontario has a very large, diverse music scene and this is just a sample of it. Here’s to you Ontario and thanks!
I suggest you watch Neil Young’s video Born In Ontario first to set the mood and then go to the Spotify playlist.
Nice playlist. (Not here today, fambly cottage. Tonight, Scary Bear Soundtrack, Loon Choir, and Highs.) Ciao!
Good morning!
Sorry I missed the discussion yesterday.
yesterday seemed to be a lot of this

Hi everyone! Am I still welcome here?
Hi Lee, Why wouldn’t you be welcome here?
Hi Garry! Oh, honked off someone yesterday. Wouldn’t be the first time!
And who is that Steve David anyway? Never saw his name before.
I wouldn’t worry about it. If I stopped speaking to everyone I had annoyed (or been annoyed by) I wouldn’t speak to anyone (including the dog)
Hi all!
Anyone listening to the playlist yet?
Let’s keep moving forward. 😉
I am
Ahh, Darleen. Ever the optimist. 🙂
I try. hehe
And “on the bright side”, it’s another very pretty day here in Sacramento. Pretty chilly this morning, 36F/3C for the second morning in a row, but there is rain forecast for tonight and over the weekend. (This is California, after all, and all rain is welcome!) My oranges and lemons are coming along nicely, with the oranges ready mid-December. And next week, Peggy and I are going away for our Thanksgiving, so no big feast that we have to prepare, but I will miss those turkey sandwiches.
Sounds great Lee! That is the downside to not having the meal at home, no leftovers. Sometimes I take some from my parents though. Win/win.
Hi All, it’s nice to have this site! I think it’s been great for filling in for the station-not-to-be-named’s demise. Better than that old Facebook group!
Now I want a turkey sandwich 🙁
Agreed Wynnsie!
I keep thinking of more Ontario artists I missed on the playlist. How could I forget The Kramdens!?
Garry, last year we opted not to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for the family, as if we hold one, we become more chefs and servers than participants. It’s a ton of work. But instead, we bought turkey breasts, roasted them, and had the family over for the best part of Thanksgiving: turkey sandwiches on the day after Thanksgiving. So we set up a buffet, asked for people to bring stuff, and it was very little work – it was all out on the counter for anyone to make what they wanted. And come to think about it, I’m going to get a turkey breast so that when we get home from our trip, we’ll roast it, and have those sandwiches. I’ll make one for you.
@Lee, Thank you, I look forward to seeing how it stands up in the mail (or send a photo and I’ll make my own 🙂 )
That souds like a great idea Lee! My parents, who will be 80 in December, keep trying to tell us they won’t host the holiday meals anymore. So far nobody has taken over but we at least all bring stuff now. After our Thanksgiving my father again stated they don’t want to do it anymore. I haven’t heard anyone step up yet and it certainly can’t be my small pigsty.
I knew I was drowsy but my typing shouldn’t be that bad
I just saw this in a facebook group
Romantic owls are silent when it rains because it’s too wet to woo
That’s cute.
well, Lee, all he said was he’s never seen you post anything that wasn’t complaining about the demise of R3.
which means he’s only been watching for 5 or 6 years 😛
Badum tish
Krib – Yeah, I’ve certainly posted more than that. However, the ones most might remember, and ones where I make the most noise were the ones when I was talking about the downfall of Radio3, from the days when we were losing features, through the end of hosting and the blog, and now the end result of what R3 is today. And of course I will complain – I’m geofenced from the whole site now. Harrumph.
And you know what? I haven’t been back to Canada since. Definitely the result of actions and reactions. But I will concede being a really squeaky wheel. 🙂
After listening to Ode to Ontario playlist, I checked out Tasseomancy’s new album. Not my thing but I did find what sounds like a steel drum in a couple songs interesting. It is spacey pleasant music though.
Hello,
I (snarf) just wanted to stop by and say I was thinking of you! It’s just me in my office today, so I have an R3 playlist blasting on Spotify and it made me think of the blog.
The site looks spiffy 🙂 I think I’ll check out one of your playlists next.
Hi Snarf
SNARF IS BACK!!!!!!
I was in Victoria last week. I shouldn’t have gone. Now I hate it here again*
*not really, but it was so nice to see consideration for cyclists and pedestrians instead of das auto uber alles like we have here
Hiya Snarf!
hey, folks!
krib – I was actually thinking of writing some sort of sarcastic Victoria visitor guide where I make fun of the City then tell the reader the best things to do. Like, saying how poorly dressed everyone is, but that’s because they walk everywhere and visitors should avoid driving because it’s a really walkable city.
(delayed response because the COO walked in)
Just in case there are any Whovians here

Wooohooo! Love it!
I’m off to bed and will leave you with this
Some college students stumped by P.E.I. phone book
(thank you for the playlist Miss Barss)
Wow! Who woulda thunk?
(you are welcome Garf. Thanks for listening)
