Christmas Song by Bliss Carman
ABOVE the weary waiting world,
Asleep in chill despair,
There breaks a sound of joyous bells
Upon the frosted air.
And o’er the humblest rooftree, lo,
A star is dancing on the snow.
What makes the yellow star to dance
Upon the brink of night?
What makes the breaking dawn to glow
So magically bright,—
And all the earth to be renewed
With infinite beatitude?
The singing bells, the throbbing star,
The sunbeams on the snow,
And the awakening heart that leaps
New ecstasy to know,—
They all are dancing in the morn
Because a little child is born.
Hello, I thought a poem would be better than anything I could write
Hey Garf. I forgot after the play last night to get something together.
Don’t worry about it, I should have had something in reserve
I’ll try to have some posts ready to go after the weekend
Thanks again!
Good morning! I’m excited to check out the playlist a bit later. I’m headed to a cookie exchange this weekend, so I’ll listen while baking cookies to put me in the Christmas spirit.
Infinite Beatitude, the name of my drone-spacey-shoegaze band.
Throbbing Star, another band name, dunno the type. Young, disrespectful and punky, maybe.
And good morning!
Garf, nice set-up, nice picture of the Peace Tower. Got to admit it’s a fine-looking piece.
Friday Morning Cartunes is starting off with some soul music, this morning. (Never the same thing…)
you know what would be funny? A playlist of nothing but versions of Little Drummer Boy
It wouldn’t be fun at all – it would be horrible – but it would be funny
Treelines!
Oh, and good morning!

I thought I would show Krib that he should be careful what he wished for (I stopped at 100 versions)
Good morning everyone! I’ll fire up that playlist Garf once I get working this morning.
@ Justin – you’re going to be pah-rum-pah-pum-pum-ing for weeks after listening to that playlist!
The Little Drummer Boy’s gonna get hate mail…
Canadian Beat tweeted out a playlist titled songs you know every word to, but I’ve barely heard of some of these, let alone know the words to.
http://canadianbeats.ca/2016/12/02/friday-playlist-songs-you-know-every-word-to/
@Janet, I only know 3 of those songs and I don’t know all the words to any of them
Hellow, persons of the blog.
Going to see Hannah Georgas and Wintersleep tomorrow! Woohoo!!!!!!!
@Garf, are any of those drummer boy versions good/interesting? A curated playlist would be nice. But you’d have to like the song to begin with.
@Wes, I only listened long enough to check it was the correct song and not something else with the same title. The final track on the list is in German though.
My daughter loves Christmas music. She always wants to listen to CHYM-FM in the car, because they play ONLY Christmas music this time of year.
how on earth did Raise a Little Hell end up in that list? someone listening to daddy’s records, I guess
I only recognize 11 of the artists listed in that “songs you know the words to” list
and out of that, about 5 are ones where I know the name but that’s it
all right! nothing like an a capella version of Little Drummer Boy…beatboxin’ drummers FTW!
@krib, that is a nice version. The Pentatonix one.
Great playlist so far Garf! Thank you!
Yo @Wes…. I’m jealous of you seeing the Hannah Georgas and Wintersleep show. Argh! Where are they playing?
@Justin, here in Guelph where I work. Half hour drive from home. Second time seeing Hannah, first time seeing Wintersleep.
Most of the drummer boy versions so far are boring/standard. The Johnny Cash one is whacked. Jars of Clay is good.
I finished the Little Drummer Boy playlist, it has 111 versions lasting just shy of 7 hours
7 hours of pa rum pa pum fun!
krib kill me now
111 Little Drummer Boy ………………………………………………………………………….. no.
Mad props to anyone who listens to the Little Drummer playlist straight through.
I like Little Drummer Boy but there is no way I will be listening to that playlist.
🙁

Well, I for one appreciate your playlists Garf! I’m about half way through the drummer boyz, but I’m certainly not listening all the way through each one! If I like it I keep listening. I’m starting my own curated list.
@Wes, As I said somewhere up there, it started out as a “careful what you wish for” and ended up a “why did I start this” list. If nothing else it should give someone at Spotify a smile if they notice it

Definitely one of the funniest TV shows there is
I’m partial to Coupling as well. It was pretty funny
