How many, if any, of these did you listen to and which ones did you enjoy most?
Hey ho! Not here today. Elsewhere.
Good morning!
Hello, please excuse the “work in progress” post today. Sorting through the releases took longer than I had planned.
Good morning! I think of all the new releases you posted, I’m most looking forward to checking out The Little Prince Suite by Circles.
@Janet, I am enjoying it
Good morning everyone!
Hi Justin
Hello all!
So far I only listened to a few minutes of The Little Prince. It sounded pretty good. I plan to check out more this afternoon.
Hi Darbar
The Skells can help you “Wake Up”. Pretty good.
Hi Garf. How has your day been?
It’s afternoon here, but I might have to have a listen to the Skells. I could use some waking up help!
@DBS, I’m not too bad thanks. How’s yaself, still recovering?
Good afternoon Janet. It is now afternoon for me as well…officially, I still feel like it is morning though.
@Garf – I wasn’t sure the antibiotic was working and I was going to need steroids but I seem to be improving. Yay!
The Pleasant Mathews may put you back to sleep but they aren’t bad either.
I was going for a varied selection with these 4 but all the other releases are listed on the other page
I won’t be getting through all those but I will check out some. I am glad you didn’t put all of them on this page.
it’s going to snow here this evening, which means I’ll be working from home tomorrow. Aside from the Little Prince Suite and the Skells, I’ll probably check out a few other of the new releases too.
@Janet, Don’t forget tomorrow’s fresh new playlist
Morning!
Anyone else want a Smugglers t-shirt from their gig in Berkeley on Saturday? Garry, they are going to have four XXL t-shirts made, so I’ll get one for you.
Looks like I’m going to take Grant, whose birthday is today, up to Sierra Nevada Brewery on Monday, so he can see the third largest micro brewery in the states up in Chico. Peggy and I toured there last year and its a terrific tour for a brewery that is 100% owned by one guy! And I know Sierra Nevada pale ale is available in Canada, as I saw in a Ontario beer store.
Also, with Said The Whale’s new record coming out, I found out that the band is now a trio, with bassist Nathan departing a couple of years ago, and now Spencer, the drummer dropping out. They’ll still have a bassist and drummer in a traveling band, but otherwise, it’ll just be Tyler, Ben and Jaycelyn as the face of Said the Whale.
And, it looks like we’ve gone from drought to flooding in California.
The Pleasant Mathews bored me but Andre Daneau is interesting. Harmonica/beat boxing? I am in!
Hi Lee! I read that about STW. It’s hard to keep a band together. Have a great time at the Smuggler’s show and with Grant!
Oh! The playlist too! Looks like some of the new releases might have to wait until the weekend!
@Lee – hopefully you’re on dry land and away from the flooding!
Hey Darb. Exchanged emails with Tyler, and he told me that Nathan left the band two years ago, but Spencer’s decision to leave was apparently relatively recent. Yeah, I imagine it is hard to keep a band together when it doesn’t pay all of your bills. I was really sad when Two Hours Traffic disbanded [unintended pun] but it was for that very reason: economics. Tough to make a living doing that. I will miss Spenny’s drumming, as he was one of the best I ever saw and heard.
@Janet – Thanks, and my house, although close to the American River, is above its flood plain, so I’ll be okay. What will be interesting is the drive on Monday up to Chico, 90 miles north, as we’ll cross several river courses getting there and back!
When will I remember to copy before I post?!
I had a response for you Lee but I can’t type it all over. Basically, sad to see Spencer go as he seemed like quite a character.
Darb – back in 2011, on STW’s first visit after Peggy and I became a couple and were living together, in the morning, we came downstairs just as Spencer got up. The three of us sat at the table drinking coffee and talking while the rest of the band slept. It was terrific to get to know him, not as the drummer of a band I like, but as this kid the age of my daughter who happened to be from Canada and be staying with us. It was really cool. I’ll miss him in the band.
Tyler said he’s living on the Sunshine Coast of Vancouver Island now.
Peggy and I felt like when Said The Whale was staying at our house, it was like my son and daughter were home and they brought two friends each. It was that comfortable. And one reason why we loved them so much.
Very cool Lee. It is great the bonds you made with those bands touring through.
Jesus, I think the transition from Little Prince to Skells gave me whiplash.
That is an abrupt one.
@Loozr, my work here is done
today is the day to finally take down our magnificent Christmas tree so I am looking forward to the new releases to keep me company!
In a strange marketing moment someone decided that T&S needed to do this …http://www.kiehls.ca/en/skin-care/category/kiehl-s-x-tegan-and-sara/ultra-facial-oil-free-cleanser-kiehl-s-x-tegan-and-sara-165LTE792.html?utm_sid=9649069&utm_source=exacttarget_EN&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_term=170105_TeganAndSara_Part1_EN&utm_content=FR_170105_TeganAndSara_Part1_EN&utm_campaign=170105_TeganAndSara_Part1_EN&rc=1&fq=3&mv=3<v=1066.47&oc=1&as=107.00&ui=KCA_00024311
Hmm, now that you mention it, I think our tree collection is tomorrow, so we should probably take ours down too. It’s less magnificent than it was before half the lights burned out, anyway.
Taking down the tree always makes me a little sad, even though I grumble when I’m putting it up.
“100% of net profits donated to the Tegan and Sara Foundation”. I can only assume the net profits on a $26 bottle of face cleanser must be about $23.50?
@Morgana, have you had any post from the UK recently
I am usually twitching to take the tree down … beat back the clutter of the holidays sort of thing. This years is different due to the absolute beauty of our noble fir.
I am attempting to remedy my sadness over taking the tree down by putting the tree back into use … one of it’s original uses actually; it is going out into the yard on top of a massive pile of snow where I will hang suet for the birds. The tree may no longer be capable of cleaning our air but it can still house some critters:)
@garfielduk I’ll have to go and look in my fancy new mailbox that mr morgana gifted and mounted for me …
… there
… and back
Oh she will be thrilled, she does love getting post!
Thank you:)
I love that you’re able to still use your tree! Happy housewarming to the critters!
And I’m off for now! Have a great night, everyone!
g’night @janet.
I am being informed by the dog that it i past my bed time as well, but he he had his own way I would go to bed as soon as he has been fed.
@Morgana, it’s nothing special, just a chance for me to share some of Durham with her.
i am sure she will appreciate it.
sleep well @garfielduk and fur friend.
Night Garf and janet.
The Pleasant Mathews are folksy/sleepy but some of the lyrics are entertaining me greatly;
