The Canadian Federation of Musicians entered into a labour dispute with the ECMA in December after CFM claimed the ECMA was refusing to enter into a new collective agreement which would guarantee musicians fair compensation for their work.

Good morning!
Hi, anyone.
Milder here, (more) snow on the way, but a little thaw tomorrow and the next day.
In the Laurentians, there’s about three feet of snow on the ground. Snowshoes mandatory off road.
I’m thinking of taking in a few toboggan runs, now, before the snow gets too thick. Ciao!
It’s raining, windy, and just plain storming in California. Grant Lawrence Live is ending his tour of California, and will be topped off with a 107 mile drive through it all to San Francisco International Airport. Quite a fitting end to his visit. We never made it to Sierra Nevada Brewery yesterday because he slept to after 11am and so we just hung around the house until 3pm when, at his insistence, we went down to see the famed Shaggin’ Wagon. I posted a photo of him in the driver’s seat, and you can imagine that outside the window was packed snow, but in fact, it was the fabric cover on my old rig. Then, last night, we met up with an old Smugglers fan and we had dinner at the classic Tower Cafe, the place where Tower Records started. Then back home, and just like Said The Whale finalized the song order off of their Little Mountain album, Grant wrote his final ending words to his new book here at our place. Soon, he’ll be off through the rain. And the King of the Forest will head back to his native land. O Canada, prepare yourself.
Nicely done, Lee.
Russ, the timing of this visit came right on top of the glorious of our drought. Cold, then warm, and now colder again. Big time blizzard conditions up on “the hill”, meaning 7300′ Donner Pass. The rain limited what we could do, but it was fun just talking and learning about Grant, The Smugglers, and the late, lamented CBC Radio3. Wish we’d have had another day – or even better, a little camping in the mountains, but that’s about six months away. I am honored that Grant went out of his way to come visit. I never expected it.
Good morning! Lee, sounds like you had an amazing visit with Grant, even if he overslept the brewery trip!
Hello
Back to the real world. Grant dropped me off at my office, and right now, he’s off through the rain to San Francisco International Airport to fly back to Vancouver. What a great visit! And driving in, he turned on Sirius XM and went to 163 for Radio3 Classic, and the screen read: Not Authorized. Kind of appropriate, I guess. But he’s heading home!
I found not 1 but 2 versions of the Smugglers set from Saturday night online this morning
I just found this as well
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wmnB6ixUME
I will have to take a listen to that!
Hi all.
Hi Darbar
Hey Garf. I enjoyed The Smugglers set. Thanks for the link.
I thought I should post that one as a benchmark of sorts before we post Saturdays later in the week
@mccflyer…. I have been seeing you Grant posts on Facebook. Very damn cool, Shaggin’ Wagon and everyhing!
And that is exactly why I wanted to listen to it. I missed out on The Smugglers thing when it was happening in the 90s.
I enjoyed the Smugglers set too! A fun way to keep me company this afternoon, and for whatever reason, YouTube isn’t blocked at my work, so i was actually able to access it!
Thanks, Justin. (How’s Duke?) It was a great time on so many levels, everything from the train ride to/from Berkeley and not messing with a car, going to the reading, going to the show, having Grant stay with us, and catching up on all of the questions I’ve had regarding his career, and especially the downfall of Radio3. I’m still so flattered and honored that Grant befriended me as he did. I still don’t understand it.
Well, that was a new one. Right after I posted my last comment, I got a Bad Gateway error message.
Sorry Janet, I don’t think I have had any of those here
A quick re-fresh took care of it, and for all I know it could have been something here.
@mcfflyer… Duke is great, and a happy boy as usual. He’s lounging around on his cushy bed.
502 Bad Gateway errors are completely independent of your particular setup, meaning that you could see one in any browser, on any operating system, and on any device.
Darn. I was afraid of this. Grant missed his SFO-YVR flight. I was afraid our bad weather would have slowed down the 110 drive to San Francisco, and it slowed him down so much he missed the flight. Bummer. Trying to reschedule.
Oh no, poor Grant!
Hate when that happens. Hopefully he gets another flight soon.
I have been lucky so far in that I have never missed a flight (a train home once but never a flight)
I missed a couple and had to stay over another night one time because of it. Sucked.
Yeah, missing flights suck.
G’night folks
Night all!
