As the title suggests it is indeed Wednesday and I have no idea what to write for today’s subject.
I think it is mostly known as writer’s block (why not creators block?). That feeling you get when you stare at a blank space, be it a piece of paper or a computer screen, and you have no idea how you are going to fill it. So you start feeling more and more stressed about the impending deadline, even if it is just one that you have set for yourself.
“writing about a writer’s block is better than not writing at all”
― Charles Bukowski, The Last Night of the Earth Poems
Most of you out there create things, even those that think they don’t. If you know how to get past that block or if you have ideas for things you would like to see covered in future posts let us know below.
Good morning!
Best.
Topic.
Ever.
Sorry, I will do better tomorrow
It looks like I should have checked the BBC News site for ideas
Drake offered to help talk man down from bridge in Manchester
According to the Manchester Evening News the rapper’s tour bus was caught a traffic jam caused after police blocked off roads and attempted to talk the man down from the bridge over the Mancunian Way.
Police say he became involved in the incident around 5.40am on Saturday morning, hours after finishing his gig at the Arena.
Inspector Phil Spurgeon said: “One officer was approached by a male from a tour van caught up in the traffic congestion, claiming to be part of Drake’s entourage.
“He offered for Drake to speak to the male on the bridge, if that would help. The offer was declined with thanks.”
The man was eventually taken to hospital for treatment after he was safely brought down from the bridge before 7am.

Alanis Morissette targeted by thieves
Thieves have stolen jewelry worth a whopping $2m (£1.6m) from the home of Canadian singer Alanis Morisette.
Los Angeles Police Department said there was also some damage to the property in the upmarket Brentwood area of Los Angeles.
Morissette, best known for her 1995 album Jagged Little Pill, is married to rapper Mario “Souleye” Treadway and the couple have two children.
Luckily the family are not thought to have been at home during the burglary on 9 February.
Stay safe, Alanis.
Sorry nothing, sometimes an empty board is good.
I have played about with the twitter thingy over there -> and it now shows the 10 most recent posts at the time the page was last refreshed but I might change that to a set length because it breaks the auto update. I tried making the background the same colour as the rest of the site but it just made the text unreadable.
I have been considering adding a release announcement feed and possibly a tour/festival announcement feed but I need to work out a way of filtering them first. Let me know if you would be interested.
@Russ, thank you, if I was more organized I would have known this day would come and I would have asked musicians how they deal with it.
Did you know it’s National Flag of Canada Day?
I thought it was WENZDEE.
I have had this stuck in my head for weeks (you are welcome)
Good morning!
I like the Twitter feed with artists tweets at the right!
Also, without being creepy, I think I want to be friends with Christine Fellows!
Good morning. That’s a virtually unrecognizable John K Samson up there with Christine Fellows.
I just read the wiki on C Fellows. Yow.
Later!
what was that tall blur?
Hi Janet
We now have 66 Canadian festivals in a twitter list, which ones have I missed?
Putting a post about not having an idea is an idea in itself, very philosophical. Remember mr. Norris’ “Just a Show”, very same concept.
Good morning everyone!
Hi Justin
The blur had to hit the dentist’s place. Did, and on time; the dental hygienist did not though, big puffy snowflakes in Ottawa this morning, on top of 4 inches; driving was treacherous even with snow tires, very slippy. Took her 2-1/2 hours to cover a 30-40 minute distance.
So, it was decided that I’d get back home (not far) and come back at 10:50 (instead of the original 8:30).
It worked out in the end. By 10:30, road conditions had improved a lot.
Hello all!
I am still sick but feeling a bit better at the moment. Tylenol and a bit more sleep helped.
A blog about a block. Is that like Seinfeld’s show about nothing?
I never watched Seinfeld (runs for cover)
I only found the quote about writer’s block after I posted the first draft and added it because I thought it needed padding out
Me either.
*stands ground*
yeah, but I’m a coward
I watched Seinfeld when I was in university, because it was on in the lounge and all my friends were there, but can’t say I actually enjoyed it.
They were all terrible people in Seinfeld but it was a funny show.
I thought that in that Seinfeld show, they were “some sort of natural”, in that they spoke thoughts often left unsaid, if not unthought — but of course they were close (as characters), most of them, and it *was* set in New York. Where things get said.
I thought it was pretty hilarious, especially for the first eternity. I slacked off after a while.
Of course it was funny. Neil and I watched it . Hello everyone!
Hello Mrs.nvp
Hello Mrs.nvp
Howdy @Mrs.NVP!
HI LIZ!
Hello Mrs.nvp!
I think I need another nap.So sleepy…
Garfield, did your Twitter list include the Kazoo! fest? They just announced their lineup http://kazookazoo.ca/
@Janet, it does now! thank you!
Hi Mrs.NVP,
welcome!
Garf,
Ness Creek and Regina are missing
as are Gateway and All Folk’d Up
wait. Regina does appear to be there. Didn’t show up on my first search. weird
oh wait. methinks someone is adding things to the list right now
and Connect, which is an electronic one in SW SK
@krib, thanks, we were following Regina Folk Fest but it had not been added to the list
and Shambhala in BC, not to be confused with Shambala in the UK…
is the good ol’ BFMAAF on there?
Brandon Folk Music and Arts Festival
Seinfeld was the best show out there in the 90s, there was literally ‘nothing’ like it up to that point. I watched it all through it’s run in University and beyond. And still will watch re-runs, whenever they are on.
@krib, Shambhala was there but the rest have been added, thank you
Hey @Krib!
Thanks for the greetings. Are people going to the picnic in June? Would love to meet more if it’s ok.?
We’re attending.
Which weekend is it?
Seinfeld was one of the best (American) comedies ever
Right after the Drew Carey show 😉
but nothing can touch Coupling.
the UK version
although the American version was exactly the same, but with American accents, which is why it crashed and burned – way to risque for people that were used to seeing Friends in that Thursday spot.
If I have my dates right the picnic should be on June 24th
I just added you to the picnics facebook group
Thanks Gary. Also, I will check out Coupling, I love UK shit!
It was loosely based on how Steve Moffat (who became showrunner for Doctor Who, and created the Weeping Angels) and Sue Vertue ended up together.
Speaking of “UK shit”
Love Actually cast to reunite for Comic Relief film
Red Nose Day Actually will be written by Richard Curtis and star Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley and Colin Firth.
Liam Neeson, Bill Nighy and Rowan Atkinson will also appear in the film, which sets out to discover what the original characters are doing in 2017.

Well, now I want to check out the UK version of Coupling! I think my sweetie has the DVD set of both the UK and American versions.
Coupling is great… as being a single person I can relate!
I have never seen Coupling either
in the same way as Seinfeld coined terms that were great (spongeworthy, for example), Coupling had a lot, too, like an “unflushable” and the Melty Man.
Oh look, it’s Mrs.NVP!
So nice of you to join us:)
of course a gracious hello to the rest of our rag tag group;)
Checking for Coupling on Netflix …
Hi Morgana
@kirb 12:21and yet when you search Coupling on Netflix (Canadian) Friends is suggested.
Hi Garfielduk. Glad I was able to get here before you packed up and went to bed. I have been both/either sick/busy lately and have been missing all of the excitement here!
I’m ignoring the dog to stay up a little late
Good night Our Basement dwellers! I’m in a workshop for the next few days, so I’ll talk to you next week!
It is with deep sadness that the Vinyl Cafe family announces that Stuart McLean passed away today, February 15th, 2017, at age 68.
We are heartbroken.
But we are also finding comfort in memories of our dear friend.
Stuart always emphasized that the world is a good place, full of good people, trying to do their best. He believed in people’s extraordinary capacity for love and generosity. And he had faith in our ability to work together for the common good.
He was, in other words, firmly committed to celebrating the positive, joyful and funny side of life. Stuart assured us that even in difficult times, we can find things to be grateful for and ways to laugh. Now that he is gone, we will try hard to do just that.
Stuart connected us – to our country and to each other. He entertained us, he made us think, he made us smile. Occasionally he made us cry. And, through all of that, he reminded us that life is made up of small moments. We never know which ones will be forgotten and which ones will stay with us forever.
So today, and hopefully every day, we’re going to celebrate Stuart’s life by trying to make each moment count and by being grateful for all of them.
We are certainly grateful for each and every moment we shared with Stuart.
We will miss him.
@Janet happy learning!
OH Shit!
I just spotted it on facebook and thought it was worth posting here
A CBC cornerstone so for sure worth sharing here.
That is so sad. Vinyl Cafe was one of my favourite podcasts 🙁
C’ya Janet!
In other less important news; I am sick but am determined to get to Old Man Luedecke tonight so I am going to go and nap now.
Damn, I’d heard about Stuart McLean’s cancer, but didn’t realise it was a terminal kind of thing. Very sad indeed, he was a unique voice.
g’night folks
Get well soon Morgana
