Accidental band Les Deuxluxes catches on, wherever it plays
To witness Les Deuxluxes’ blazing live show is to experience love at first sight, but Les Deuxluxes themselves are — as brassy frontwoman and guitarist Anna Frances Meyer puts it — “a love story.”

‘Louis Riel’ opera takes on new meaning during truth and reconciliation era
“Louis Riel” was originally created to mark Canada’s centennial in 1967, but a new incarnation of the opera about the famed Metis leader has an added poignancy given the current era of truth and reconciliation with indigenous peoples, says director Peter Hinton.
Checking in. Anybody home?
Good morning! I’m sort of here, working on a big project, so only checking in sporadically
Hi there,
I’m lurking in the background.
Listening to Jeffery Straker from yesterday.
I’m not (all) here
Checking in like a spore. sniff
Said the Whale was going to be on q today. I’m looking forward to hearing them on the podcast later.
Yup, Said the Whale’s the lead-off interview — which features quite the explanations of their past couple of years’ bummers — and they perform a couple of songs.
But the interview itself isn’t a bummer. One song’s happy, and the other one’s elegiac.
Hello all! Happy Tuesday. 😀
So how much chocolate did you eat over the weekend?
I kept it down to a small amount and I didn’t get to a store to look for the after sale. I wonder if there is any around still?
For the past 3 Sundays my Housemate has returned from his Mothers with 2 large Easter Eggs that I have been eating (to stop him from getting fat you understand*) and replaceing them with better quality dark chocolate.
*I am a lost cause
We are kid-less at my house, but that doesn’t stop me from hiding Easter chocolate all over the house to find later*
*hopefully.
@Janet, should we just start calling you Squirrel Girl?
In a candid interview with US website Pitchfork, Feist discusses her troubles with “finding the past in the present” and “chasing a kind of sublime austerity” on her new record.
Very commendable of you Garf. haha
I have a very hard time resisting chocolate so have found it better to just have small amounts of dark chocolate around and it handles the chocolate craving with less.
elegiac; having a mournful quality.
thanks for my word for the day benoit!
@Morgana, have you had any packages recently (hello)
Teacher ” Use elegiac in a sentence”
Student “I don’t know the meaning of the word elegiac”

I took my Mom to the Knitting Factory in Spokane last weekend to see Little Scream.
We had a few drinks, tapped our toes and clapped our hands and rode the bus back to our b&b … we were kinda tipsy and not sure where the bus would take us but we made it back. Fun times with Mom.

I saw Dear Rouge open for…Fast Romantics? a couple of years ago, before anyone knew who they were
they were interesting. The singer was performing like she was in front of a stadium full of people, instead of a little club with 50 people in it
