Playlist Friday has most of the 2017 WCMA nominees that were announced earlier this week. There is 4.5 hours of Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock and even Country on it. Western Canada has a lot of artists you should know about and this gives you a good sample of them. Some you may know already but there may be more for you to discover.
The East Coast Music Awards were last night, Thursday April 27 and the festival is running April 26 to 30. We have been spending a lot of time on the East Coast in recent months so since the nominees were just announced, we are focusing on the West Coast this week instead. I will be adding a playlist of the winners from the ECMA as well. At the time of writing, not all the categories have been updated with winners yet so I will update when I find out more.
The West Coast Music Awards nominees are listed on the website. Do you have any favourites? The winners will be announced live from the stages of the BreakOut West Festival, and at the annual Industry Awards Brunch, September 13-17, 2017 in Edmonton, AB.

Good morning!
Good morning! Checking out the Western Canadian Music Awards playlist now. I love checking out the talent in Canada!
Good morning! 🙂
Hello
Indian City was a new band for me, and now I want to learn more! I really enjoyed Here and Now!
Awesome Janet! I am glad you made a new discovery. 😀
I just found out that DJ Format & Abdominal are performing near me in 8 days time

That would probably be a fun show to go to.
I’m still trying to work out how I get home after the show because the person I usually go with doesn’t like rap
Hillsburn won their ECMA for this video.

That voice at the start of the Andino Suns songs gets me every time. It is Keiffer McLean that I have talked about numerous times. He recorded a song or two with Andino Suns. He is such a talented kid and I hope he gets his musical career on track again.
Sunday is the last day the Polaris jurors can recommend albums that were released between June 1, 2016 and April 30, 2017. Only albums released in May can be recommended after that. I think there are about 145 albums that have been recommended and there will be more to come. We have to get that down to 40! I still am not sure what my 5 votes will be. I have some more music listening to do.
Good luck with the listening, Darbar! I’m curious, does it seem like a chore now because of all the music you want to hear?
It is not a chore yet, but I have found I don’t want to listen much to non-Canadian music or anything that hasn’t come out in the last year. I don’t have time for that!
As some if you may know, once in a while I look at the prices for flights to Canada. While doing so today I found something strange.
if I booked a flight from London to Vancouver it would cost me £423 but if I flew from Manchester to London before getting the very same flight it would cost £310 (a saving of £113)

How far out of your way would flying to Manchester be? (sorry my geography is terrible)
That seems odd.
Oh now this looks it will be a fun listen!!
Today is brought to you by the letter “L”
planted lettuce
listening to Leslie
lunching on leafy greens
Lovely day!
indeed!
did anyone listen to leslie on q?
and i’m off again.
dog walking this time.
she was not impressed when i left on the bike to get groceries and did not take her …
I did not. I never catch q. I really should catch up.
I hope you love listening to the long list.
I usually fly to Canada from Manchester Airport but this route would have me leaving there early in the morning to get an afternoon flight in London for less than it would cost to take the same flight direct from London. They would effectively be paying me £113 to fly from Manchester to London.
