Nielsen Canada’s new Music 360 report
The just released Music 360 2014 study, NIELSEN’s third annual research of the tastes, habits and preferences of U.S. music listeners, found that 93% of the country’s population listens to music, spending more than 25 hours each week tuning into their favourite tunes. The 75% of respondents who said they actively chose to listen to music was greater than the 73% who watch television.

SaskMusic and Artists on EU and UK Export Missions
As part of the ongoing strategy to help Saskatchewan artists succeed in worldwide markets, SaskMusic is set to undertake a series of overseas events. We are pleased to be participating in a new export mission this year, to Wrexham, Wales for the Focus Wales festival. Continuing our longstanding partnership with Alberta Music, Manitoba Music, and Music BC, our associations will co-present a showcase under the BreakOut West brand at Undegun on May 12, and Rewind on May 13. This year’s BreakOut West showcase includes three Saskatchewan artists: Nick Faye, LOA, and Poor Nameless Boy, all of whom received official showcase invitations from Focus Wales festival organizers.
Mac DeMarco: ‘I’ve been trying to not turn into my father’
Early March, north London. Three hundred youthful-looking people have wangled tickets to see Canadian singer-songwriter Mac DeMarco perform a rare intimate gig at a tiny pub called Nambucca. For the rest of the year he’s on a massive tour of the US and Europe – including two sold-out nights at south London’s 5,000-capacity Brixton Academy and headlining End of the Road – but tonight he’s performing solo, no backing band, “just Mac”.

And Finally
Matt Mays Live in Ottawa, November 14, 2015 [4K UHD]
Good day. I heard about Matt Mays recently. I think he’s got a new album coming out soon.
Hello, hello! Happy Tuesday!
It’s no longer raining in Ottawa-Gatineau. Rivers have crested. Still a skiff of SNOW in the air though, good ol’ mid-Québec air. (Québec the province, lots of North to it.) Still a risk of frost in low-lying areas* overnight. We may then get on with Spring, which for many will mean assessing water damage and repairing.
* Apparently more mendacious areas get away scott-free.
Hello
Hi.
Good morning!
Fiver on Q today.
I am much ROMO’d still (said he, exaggerating a little): I had a ticket for Simone Schmidt (of Fiver) at the Sheep, Saturday — she was opening for Bry Webb — but I couldn’t make it on account of my car breaking down. Crud.
I have 2 questions
1) do you know what I mean when I say the Eurovision Song Contest?
2) does anyone in Canada broadcast it? (I know it’s on Logo in the USofA)
I’m going to guess that the silence means either nobody is here or those that are here are not interested (with the 3rd option of not being allowed to work due to the internet policy at work)
1 = no.
I have heard of the Eurovision Song Contest, though I’ve only ever seen highlights, not the contest itself.
Eurovision Song Contest only sounds very vaguely familiar. No idea if it gets broadcasted.
Fiver has moved into my top 15 for Polaris. I need to have more listens though. Sorry you couldn’t make it to the show Benoit and for your stupid car.
I only ask because the first semi final is on in 25 minutes
and I was thinking of posting a link to the filmon stream for anyone interested
I don’t need the link. Thanks.
fair enough
The Eurovision contest is, I suppose, broadcast on our French International Chennel, which mixes programming from Québec, France, etc. Channel 35 on my cable.
I am trying to get my work done so I can fly away to Vancouver tomorrow!
Oh yeah, I forgot about that
Check out Interstellar Rodeo in Winnipeg! Wow!
