Montreal-based singer/songwriter Emily Millard is set to release her latest collection of alt-folk gems, By Heron & By Season, on October 7. Formerly known as Miss Emily Brown, the new LP follows the Canadian Folk Music Award-nominated artist’s first release under her birth name, the March 2016 single, “Paradise.”
Produced by Sandro Perri, and featuring a stellar cast of supporting musicians, including violinist Jesse Zubot (Tanya Tagaq), cellist Peggy Lee (Veda Hille), drummer Dan Gaucher (Fond Of Tigers, Woodpigeon), and bassist Colin Nealis (Andy Shauf), By Heron & By Season stunningly lives up to previous descriptions of Millard’s work as “inventive,” “haunting,” and “beautifully ethereal.”
Good morning!
Hello!
For your consideration, and Darbar’s: https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/spotify-denies-its-playlisting-fake-artists-so-why-are-all-these-fake-artists-on-its-playlists/?utm_content=buffer1107a&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer
Hello!
hello
I’m back.
(Whaddaya mean, nobody noticed I was gone???)
Hello e’rybody.
Interesting article Benoit. It doesn’t affect our playlists but it might make me consider using another platform.
has anyone seen Benoit?
Here. Here. Thanks for noticing!
it’s not like there are loads of people to hid behind
I’ve decided to take in the opening day of the Stewart Park (Free) Music Fest in Perth, Ontario. That’s about an hour and a quarter west of Ottawa, and the park itself is a wonderful, large thing that was donated to the town by the wife of the local notable, preserving his name. It was specified that events held there would be free. And so…
I’m mostly going to hear Lindi Ortega.

I hope you have a great time
The lovely, peaceable Tay River runs through Stewart Park. https://www.tripadvisor.ca/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g499284-d4578616-i205212133-Stewart_Park-Perth_Ontario.html
The Stewart Park festival looks like fun, enjoy!
Thx. Looking forward to whatever Wör may be.
And now I am back. Did you notice I was gone? I am back with a frozen face from the dentist.
Enjoy the Stewart Park Fest. It looks lovely there and Lindi Ortega is a good draw. I am looking forward to her set at Gateway Music Fest next weekend.
Darbar, are you ready for the shortlist announcement tomorrow?
@Janet – I am very excited about it! Keeping my fingers crossed that my favs make it through.
I’m looking forward to seeing who is on it as well. Though usually I’m vaguely disappointed because “big name” artists get nominated in favour of smaller artists I like better.
I wouldn’t be thrilled with Drake, The Weeknd or Carly Rae being on the shortlist but I would definitely be okay with Gord Downie or Leonard Cohen being on it.
That’s a good point, I really enjoyed both The Secret Path, and You Want It Darker. In fact I’m listening to the latter right now, even though it seems out of place on a hot, humid, sunny DC afternoon.
I love both those albums.
I’m headed out now, looks like you might talking to yourself now, Darbar! Talk to you tomorrow!
Haha! Nothing unusual there. Ciao Janet!
Hey, I’m still here, even though I should be asleep as I have a Drs appointment at 9:20 in the morning
