Good morning!
Hello, how was your long weekend?
Greetings and salutations!
is every catching up on the work they missed?
this is what happened in my neighbourhood last night
https://www.amsmeteors.org/2017/09/british-columbia-fireball-september-4th-2017/
Grilling and cycling over the weekend, pretty standard.
@russ pretty lucky that that is our standard don’t you think? I have not done more cycling than my commute to work and back because the smoke is so bad from all of the forest fires.
Today I may go for a drive and hike to look for chunks from a meteor … see my previous post link
Best of luck searching for meteorites Morgana! I heard about the fireball, must have been a sight to see.
I’m back at work after a fun long weekend. The race was great, and I shook James Hinchcliffe’s hand, which was a highlight for me!
It did add some excitement to an otherwise work filled weekend. it is not looking like anyone else is as keen as i am to go looking for the meteorite and seeing as i don’t drive that is that.
I’ll settle for some good music today:)
Let us know if you find anything Morgana
Hi all
Looking for a meteorite sounds cool to me morgana.
My long weekend was spent doing some work for a couple organizations I volunteer for and trying to get a bit of cleaning done before I get a plumber to come in my house. : – /
Darbar – I’m always afraid I’ll have a house emergency and have to call someone in who will see how messy my house is. The fear isn’t bad enough to clean or anything, I just worry about it 🙂
@Janet, I should send you photos of this place, it will make you feel better about your own home (ask DBS how untidy was when I slept on the couch)
Haha! I am getting over caring that people know how much of a pig sty I live in. I still don’t invite people in unless I absolutely have to though. But the house is falling apart and I need people to come fix it. I still think about just bull dozing the whole thing down.
Good day everyone!
Glad to know I’m in good pig sty company!
Hello Justin!
Hi Justin
Hi Justin!
We have huge fires going on here in Oregon. This one was started by kids with fireworks a couple days ago. Has shut down the main freeway east and ash is falling like snow on Portland. It’s insane.

More fires! Stay safe Justin.
@justin we too are surrounded by fires and are living in a smoke and ash covered time. take care.
This must be particularly scary times for those who believe in the end of world stuff; fires everywhere, eclipse and a meteor exploding.
well written article on one of our local festivals. i am going to share it in an attempt to lure some of you here for it next year.
PS I had to look up what krautrock meant.

@morgana… and hurricane Harvey and likely hurricane Irma hitting Florida.
@justin those are some pretty scary storms! I was just referring to local goings on in my previous comment.
That is a pretty fabulous festival morgana! Very tempting!
Oh yeah… fires in BC, Montana, Oregon, Washington… insane. I have friends near Missoula that have been evacuated.
@darbar you know you have a place to stay before and after. we could figure out some clamping for during;)
@justin we have friends in Missoula … how far away is the fire from the city? I thought it was closer to MacDonald Lake
Does the group Blue Hawaii have some of the same musicians as Braids?
Blue Hawaii are an electronic music duo from Montreal, Quebec, composed of Braids member Raphaelle Standell-Preston and Alex “Agor” Cowan.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Hawaii_(band)
@garfielduk thanks for being the “research guy”. I noticed they are playing while I am in Vancouver in October for the Arcade Fire show.
it’s what I’m here for
morgana, that girl with the long name I can’t quite come up with is in both bands. Raphaelle Standell-Preston, had to look it up. The two bands sound not dissimilar.
(One should always check to see if someone else has answered the question.)
@morgana… my friends are on Florence, Montana… been there once in my life. 32km south of MIssoula.
That would be great Morgana. Seriously, in my thoughts.
Fun fact: It was Grimes who turned me on to Blue Hawaii. I saw her (and was mightily impressed) at Maverick’s maybe around 2012 or so, and chatted with her very cute, absolutely tiny self after the show, and mentioned BRAIDS (as Grimes was also centred there at the time), and that’s when she mentioned Raphaelle’s side project.
