Toronto-based noise-punk trio METZ have created a short film entitled Making Strange Peace, which captures the band during the recording process of their new album with engineer Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago. Entertainment Weekly premiered the film, saying, “Strange Peace is not only their best yet, but one of the year’s best rock releases.”
METZ also recently shared a new video for Strange Peace’s lead single “Cellophane”. As described by director Shayne Ehman, the visual depicts a sphere where “consciousness is split, and a world of contrast unfolds. The resulting disembodiment disperses one’s spatial awareness and new kinds of empathy develop. Two become three, and it’s only half the story.”
METZ’s international tour schedule in support of Strange Peace is underway with dates in Halifax, and Vancouver on the horizon. The tour currently runs through December 16th in Houston at Warehouse Live. During that run, METZ will serve as direct support for Modest Mouse yesterday and today.
METZ also took part in a Pitchfork Live performance last week.

Hello
Good morning!
Hey ho!
hey! that’s high class escort to you!
Should Wild Raccoon have a 90second egg type feature?
garf, is the audience large enough to justify the effort?
I’m doing it for the practice mostly plus, if audience size mattered this site wouldn’t exist
true
Hello hello! I’m finally able drop in and say hello again! I’m on a family vacation with my parents, sweetie, brother, and sister-in-law. I really thought I’d be able to check in with the blog more, but my family wanted to catch up and do things together!
I haven’t listened to the new podcast yet, but I am really looking forward to it when I get back next week!
Good morning!
Just listening to the podcast now. Is there like a ‘tape’ filter to make it sound like you’re actually listening to a old mixtape cassette?
thanks for the birthday message on FB BfO!
Welcome!
@funhug, there is 2 tape hiss files looped in the background,1 of them is constant to represent the tape you are listening to and the other is only on when the music is playing to represent the mixtape it is being copied from
I might be a nerd
Brilliant!
I didn’t think anyone would notice the tape hiss noises I added.
Howdy folks!
I wondered what the static was from on the podcast. hehe
I hope it wasn’t too loud
that was well done, Garf.
I liked the “Is this thing on?” bit at the start,with the bangbangbang and French, and then again and in English.
I thought the noise was because they were outside, recording in an alley, given that it’s a raccoon…
Now that I know why it is there it won’t bother me. Ha!
Thanks for the Podcast! It was awesome!
Thanks krib, the voices should be different next time, not the Google translate ones like this time. But he will be keeping th french voice for when it is needed.
hey folks. has everyone recovered from their turkey filled weekend?
The wild racoon is currently playing as I contemplate packing. It is very enjoyable … the sounds that is.
I am headed to Vancouver tomorrow despite my bashed body and low iron. I cashed in points ages ago to book it so …. here is to hoping that I can get to the activities I want to, like Arcade Fire but if not at least I will be somewhere else for a while.
Hi Morgana! I sure hope your body allows you to enjoy your time in Vancouver.
Me too! I do have tentative plans for a number of things including going to the symphony as well as a small record store show that Rural Alberta Advantage are performing at.
I hope you’re feeling better soon, Morgana!
thanks @janet. I will make the most of it anyway.
have a great time with your friends and family!
@gary, will the blueberry, white chocolate cookies be the next podcast recipe?
I didn’t eat turkey. Had the kids over for brunch. Did a bunch of stuff, but no turkey. One of the boys said he really liked that it wasn’t the traditional thanksgiving food
only downside is no leftovers
@Morgana, I was going to see if there [were] any November cookies on his sit[e] but if I can’t find one then that will be it
I had a busy weekend with theatre stuff and felt a bit rushed on the family thanksgiving dinner part. I enjoyed the meal very much but I rushed off and didn’t get any leftovers. I am very thankful for all the good things that theatre have brought to our lives but especially to my son’s. The changes in him this past year have been remarkable and he even got a job through a theatre friend. Makes my heart happy.
double booking tragedy;
i will be here with @snarf

@Morgana, would you believe I didn’t add those t WR’s cookie blog.
Do you recognize this one? https://www.sugardishme.com/white-chocolate-blueberry-oat-cookies/
@garfielduk they have Christmas baking written all over them! just not shipping!!
@darbar you didn’t bring a left over container to dinner?
happy kid = happy mom
@Morgana 🙂
I was thinking something like these for December (if we get that far)
No-Bake Christmas Wreath Cookies
http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/no-bake-christmas-wreath-cookies/b5166707-9793-4411-84dd-0ab40be3a1e3
Usually I leave there with some leftovers but we left in a rush to get to rehearsals. We do have to go back and pick up a table and dishes we left behind but I think we are too late for leftovers now. :p
So many choices and a tired and bruised body to deal with. Yikes! Good luck!
I had something that was sold as poutine, but wasn’t, for Thanksgiving
I saw that baked poutine dish.
I didn’t get in on the Thanksgiving dinner poutine from the place near me. I wonder if it is still available.
I enjoyed the Metz post by the way.
When I commented on it I was told that the menu said it was their version of “poutine”
To me that is like asking for lasagne and being told that is what you will get only to receive spaghetti with meatballs.
Yeah, the ingredients are the same but the outcome is different.
#stillnothappyaboutit
@DBS, thank you
i am going to see about walking in the sun for a bit nervous to be holding onto my dog with a leash as she pulls but i’ll just let go if that happens
Tell Suki if she behaves I’ll send cat treats
