Each and every Thursday we try to bring to light as many of the albums and EPs that are due to be released, by Canadian artists, the following day. We try to do this with as little bias as possible from ourselves with the hope that you will enjoy the music based purely on its merits. But, due to there being very few if any releases this week we get to share with you six of our favourite releases from the last twelve months.
Come back next week when we should be looking ahead to some of the hotly anticipated releases of 2018.
Hello
Good morning!
We saw 4/6 of those picks.
A music-and-arts tour has united big-name Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists on stage. The New Constellations tour also gets Indigenous youth involved. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look how music and the arts are putting ‘reconciliation’ into action.

G’day!
Hello hello!
Hello All,
Still lurking in the background.
I will disappear for the holidays tomorrow.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. I’ll see you all in the New Year.
Thank-you for all of the new music & news updates.
hey Scott! Have a good Xmas break…
Merry Christmas, Scott!
Greetings fellow music lovers & happy Christmas!
I’m listening to Darbar’s holiday playlist and adding my favourites to my own list. Thanks Darbar!
@Garf, nice photo. Did you take it? If not, you should give credit.
Hi, fussy! How are things?
(In other news…) Off cycling soon. Easy not to, these days, what with four inches of snow or 50 km gusts. Today, no such excuse! Ciao.
@Benoit, I’m well thanks. I heard the story about your dad on the World at Six yesterday. Was that your sister they interviewed?
Yes, the older of the two, Denyse. Professor based in Montreal.
Although Ian Bush’s sentence re my dad is in effect meaningless, given the felon’s other triple murder sentence, it’s understandable that the Crown not let major offenses go untried. For us the Côté family, it makes little difference as our dad came out of the event quite excellent.
Still, and the main things, it’s nice to have the judge Garon 2007 case solved*, and to have that Bush guy locked away ‘forever’.
*those families likely got far more closure than us.
Such an amazing story though. Good genes you’ve no doubt inherited.
definitely maybe
out. later!
Hi all!
Glad you are still lurking out there Scott. Happy Holidays!
Mr. Fussyfont is using that Spotify feature to get ahead. hehe. I will be posting that holiday playlist tomorrow. I have been listening to it and rearranging in preparation.
I agree with his 8:44 comment about Benoit and his father.
@Mr.Fussyfomt, The image above is from here photofunia.com
@Garf… Ah, OK, not copyrighted. Very cool.
Um, not much of an eye for dimensions, or signs, that driver. Luckily, no-one on board. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-birmingham-42435613
@BfO, It happens over here more often than you would think. A lot of it is usually put down to a driver that is given a double decker bus to drive a route that should only be done by a single decker bus.
They are meant to have stickers inside the bus cab to remind the driver that they are in a taller vehicle. but they don’t always work. (loose nut behind the wheel)
Yeah, I get it, but still. If I were given one to drive, in my mind it would be a DOUBLE DECKER!!! And that bridge was really not very tall; looks like a tunnel:. The guy sheared off not 6 inches, but (I think) over a metre!
If we are going to screw something up over here we never do it in half measures
Go big or go home, eh?
indeed
I suspect that, since the bus was not in service, the driver was returning to the bus barns via a different route and not paying attention.
The advert on the side is kind of comical: 4headache relief on the move”
it’s now a open-air tour bus
this is kind of interesting

@krib, that site was plugged a few times during the National around the time of the anniversary
That Halifax Explosion site is cool.
Some friends of mine were on one of those double decker tour busses in London when it hit something — an overhanging tree, I believe — and took the roof off. As I recall, all the passengers escaped with their heads more or less intact. I think a couple people were not so lucky on that Toronto to New York bus that took a wrong turn in Buffalo (is there any other kind?) and tried to drive under a low bridge.

Glad I watched that all the way to the end, the last one was pretty good.
saw another linked video. they put up a warning sign
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LNEQxJM9ZE
I thought they had updated to automated warning signs
I have tabs open on my computer for Dina Alone’s Winter Sampler, Vinyl Cafe, package tracking and some recipes for holiday meals; ’tis the season indeed:)
I am ignoring the chair exercises, vertigo exercises to improve balance, and EI tabs; ’tis a bunch of boring crap!
they do, and a street light that turns red. it appears to be working
I am not sure who the “Our” is of “Our Top Picks” is. hehe.
Tune in next week to find out DarBar’s best albums of 2017.
It was apparent they had to do something about that bridge. I hope they also have warnings before they get to the bridge as well.
well i am 1/3 the way through Dine Alone’s list and I am not enjoying it so far:(
Sadies to Land of Talk section of it was pretty good for me.
Sadies is next, I have been persevering knowing they were coming up.
Enjoy! I am off to finally start some Xmas shopping!! Ack!
Sadies are also quite loud — at first…
Best of luck darbar!!
@ b from o the whole list has been pretty noisy so far.
Yup it is rather, um, sonically vigorous…
@b from o you always have the best words!
i am going to make eggnog to drink tomorrow ….
re: the bridge’s fancy new warning signs, they’re *sort of* working…
