Adrian Underhill – CU Again
Produced by famed Brit producer Adam Bainbridge, aka Kindness (Robyn, Solange, Blood Orange), the LP is available to pre-order now at this location. A video for the title track recently premiered on The 405. Says Underhill, “I created this video with two of my friends from film school, both accomplished filmmakers, Evan Crowe and Tony Massil. I knew I wanted it to be a very simple concept and I think there’s something intrinsically meaningful about seeing a songwriter sing their own song.” Watch the video below.(Bucket List)
Carmanah – Speak in Rhythms
Victoria based Carmanah is set to release their debut album Speak in Rhythms, but you can hear it exclusively here on Live in Limbo first. The band fuses blues with folk tendencies in an intoxicating fashion.(Live in Limbo)
Cecil Frena – The Gridlock
Good Lovelies – Shapeshifters
Listening to Toronto’s Good Lovelies, you can’t help, but feel all the things; joy for love, heartbreak for loss, excitement for life. It’s important to note, too, that these aren’t the expressions of anyone, but Kerri Ough, Sue Passmore, and Caroline Brooks themselves. They share their experiences to connect with the listener in a way that many artists are missing these days. It’s that realness that not only makes you want to put them on repeat but also sit down with them for a coffee. Take some time out of your busy day to check out the video for their single, “When We Were Young” below.(Canadian Beats)
Holly Cole – Holly
One musical mystery that audiophiles and serious music fans of all stripes can relate to is why singer Holly Cole did not/has not become a bigger star. Her voice is expressive in the extreme. She has taste in material that is both adventurous and impeccable. Her records have always been very well-recorded. And she’s a charismatic live performer. (Stereophile)
Oh Geronimo – Mountains
The Olympic Symphonium – Beauty In The Tension
Having four distinctive songwriters in a band sounds like something that could easily go awry after a few years. But after counting 13 years as a band, current bandmates Nick Cobham, Kyle Cunjak, Dennis Goodwin and Graeme Walker are tighter than ever, creating space for each other as the Olympic Symphonium. And on the Fredericton folk-pop quartet’s new album, Beauty in the Tension, the nod to that equilibrium is right in the title.(CBC Music)
Good morning!
There was SO MUCH SNOW at the cottage, yesterday. Sooooo much: about 18 inches of soft and fluffy stuff over a good inch of ice, and a couple of inches underneath. It had fallen over about three weeks. I was feeling many muscles last night.

Good morning!
You go, Benoit.
New Shred Kelly song is out and beautiful.
Hello hello! I’m excited for the new Good Lovelies the most, but am going to check out all the artists mentioned above.
Musicwise, I’m looking forward to Efrim Manuel Menuck (Godspeed!… & other bands) Friday evening.
A footnote to the disappearance of Zaphod’s: its rebirth as (bleh) The 27 Club and, more to the point, the fact they gutted the old split levels, which yielded more space and a better venue, has made it so that Ottawa’s biggest booker is now booking a lot of shows there. And the place, if perhaps a little bare, is nice, as are the people.
I have enjoyed listening to The Olympic Symphonium album
Hello all!
Nice to be back and to check out more music. I agree with Janet, The Good Lovelies is what I am most interested in but will I will check them all out as well.
Hi Candy
Hi Garfy
I see it’s busy in here again
So busy!
I can hardly keep up
Whoa whoa whoa. Not so fast!
Hello,
Thank-you for the new music. I’m always glad to see new releases from the Good Lovelies. I enjoyed Carmanah, and the Olympic Symphonium. I will have to listen to more of Holly Cole. I didn’t particularly enjoy that song but, I think her voice could be lovely.
Hi Scott
Hi Garf,
I hope your day has gone well.
I’m looking forward to getting caught up with the Confidential show tomorrow on BBC 6. Iggy Pop usually has a very eclectic playlist. I’ve been away for awhile so I can go back & listen to the older shows.
It looks like 6Music are focusing on NYC at the moment

Yes, I may have to look at Whats On. Blondie was always one of my favorites from my teenage years.
Hi Scott. Always nice to see you drop in.
Who doesn’t love Blondie?
they were showing a 30minute loop of music videos on the BBC interactive channel (I’ll see if I can grab if from iplayer for you)
I didn’t realize that she was still performing. She still sings well. BBC had an interview with her not too long ago. She has also started keeping honey bees recently.
Thanks Garf.
My work day is finished I’ll see you all tomorrow.
Have fun!
Bye Scott!
There was this odd orb in the sky calling me outside to get warm … it only lasted a little while but I am glad to have gone out. It is risky with all the ice and dog terds everywhere though.
Roots, by Carmanah makes me think back to early days of Hey Ocean. Ashley Ball anyone?
I can definitely hear the similarity to Hey Ocean.
As I work in my dungeon, I wonder what this orb in the sky you speak of is.
All of the Kootenays has been a dungeon for months … at least for the likes of me who can not go up to the ski hill or partake in other activities that may take one our of our valley.
Will it be dark when you get off work? At least it isn’t dark at 3:00 any more!!
I will see daylight when I climb out of here! Grey days on end really get to me. I am glad you got some sunshine!
Sun is very helpful indeed! I also had a very generous offer yesterday; An invite to share a patch of one of those expensive campsites at Sasquatch! So tempted but I just don’t know if I will have recovered from this concussion business.
is darbar working on a valentines playlist for us? that “friend activity” is fun;)
Haha! Yes indeed I am. I didn’t have much time to work on it this week so it will no doubt be a hodgepodge. There will be music though!
Hmm I enjoyed Cecil Frena’s (formerly Born Gold) track.
Happy Hodgepodge Valentines!
That video is Holly Cole? … I will have to explore that as it is confusing me hearing her sing the likes of Floor Drugs…
That’s not the Holly Cole I know.
did I mess up again?
I am sure there is more than one Holly Cole in the music world … so I don’t think you messed up @garfielduk, I am just easily confused.
This is the Holly Cole I know.

ditto! she is amazing!
what is the name of the movie that used this song? damned retired brain! Another Roadside Cafe?
That is the person I should have posted but I chose a more recent video and got the wrong person, sorry.
The video has gone and been replaced by a spotify track
