I was going to do another Easter/Spring playlist as I did last year but I added a bunch more tracks to the playlist and it got very long. So this week is just the “Easter” playlist and maybe next week we will check out the Spring playlist. It doesn’t feel like Spring at all here anyway with temperatures dipping down to -24 C in Regina tonight. Brrr. Here’s hoping next week it warms up again.
Easter is the theme of the playlist but as often happens it is a pretty loose interpretation. The beginning tracks are about Good in honour of Good Friday. And then there are some songs about faith and religion. The playlist takes a dark turn with some songs about dying and funerals representing Jesus dying on the cross. But he doesn’t stay dead for Christ has risen indeed and there are songs of resurrection and rejoice.
It is a playlist not to be taken literally and I don’t mean any sacrilege. It is just a group of some really good Canadian Indie music for us to listen to. I hope you enjoy and have a Happy Easter!
hello
Good day!
Good morning!
Ooooh, almost the start of my CKCU day, pretty much…
Yup!
CFCR has a decent program leading up to the CKCU day.
Hello hello!
I’ll try and remember that.
Good Friday Morning!
Hello, darbar; janet.
Here, on the border, where “everything” is closed in Ontario, things are open in Québec.
It’ll reverse on Monday.
(At least we have the same time.)
(And: punny, darbar)
I was thinking: so, it’s called “Good Friday” because it commemorates crucifying JC. Huh. Seems insensitive. (In French, it goes by Holy Friday, Vendredi Saint.)
Good Friday is the holiday here as well. I used to always take Easter Monday off as well but I will be working it this year. Nice that you have options close by.
I feel a bit strange “celebrating” Good Friday. I feel like I should go to church and pray or something…but I won’t.
Well, as I didn’t go out yesterday for a few food items, I’ll now drive over the border to the republic of Québec. One thing I noticed years ago was how much bigger their cookie aisles were — twice as big as in Ontario, easily.
MORE TOPICAL NEWS TO FOLLOW.
Ha! Interesting observations. Enjoy your trip to Quebec.
wait, the cookie aisles are bigger in Quebec but we only went to a store in Ontario? 🙁
Garf, your life is a vale of tears…
