Hey Our Basement,
During the lengthy recording process behind our forthcoming release, I experienced a sudden and inexplicable speech loss – rendering me unable to talk for months. Throughout the steep climb in getting my voice back, I began working in near-isolation on a batch of new material.
The band enlisted producer Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, Said The Whale) to help us reach new ground. Our debut single, “Lost In You Now,” was released in early 2018 and we filmed an accompanying DIY video/pseudo-documentary in support of the single. The music video 2 AM around an eccentric character named Kevin and his personal struggle to find acceptance in doing what he loves. His resistance to the norm and to criticism embodied the challenges we faced in creating our new material.
Our sophomore single, “Superficial Feeling,” was mixed by Jason “JVP” VanPoederooyen (Mother Mother, illScarlett) and really feels like something special to me. It feels like the next step for us – for Written Years. It’s a corrupt, little 2AM love song about finding yourself in this strange world.
Big thanks to you for listening.
Wade Ouellet (¼ of Written Years)

This months podcast will be out tomorrow instead of today because WR forgot to mention that he was visiting his Mom yesterday
oh and
hello
‘Morning.
Good morning!
Hello hello!
I love that the CBC Radio 3 stream on Sirius XM is playing friends of the blog The Low Joy Ceiling!
what’s CBC Radio 3?
It used to be a dynamic, amazing community of Canadian Indie music fans, but now it’s just a stream on satellite radio 🙂
Oh, that lot, I didn’t know they were still going! They had no effect on me (says the person watching a choir!x3 video on youtube)
How would people feel if WR did a podcast playing only C!3 covers of Canadian tracks?
Grant even does a couple of stings every once in a while!
I would love to hear a podcast of WR playing only C!3 covers
I am happy that WR went to visit his Mom yesterday.
A CCC podcast would be fun for sure.
I am hoping the roofers are going to take a break soon; I am ready to take a shower.
It sure was a lovely peaceful, quiet weekend here without them.
That’s why the roofers are a good thing, they remind you to enjoy the tranquility more when they leave.
Them and the construction crew two houses over who are building a fourplex.
We sat around the outdoor fire last night and took full advantage:)
Did the skunks join you?
I think all the construction in the neighbourhood has scared them off!
Now I have jinxed it …
or they have been hired as day labourers
they are peeing all over the neighbourhood like they are marking their territory so who knows! thankfully the homeowner said they could use their bathroom. still haven’t seen any of them go in the house however.
blessing; no boom box blasting terrible music!
I wonder which radio station they would go for, Country, Rock, Top 40 or “Golden” Oldies
I’m guessing the skunks are all top 40, all the time.
I hear a lot of them are hipsters now and only listen to those fisher price record players
and now I want to design records that can be 3d printed and played on those things
The boss skunk is on his way over. The hipster skunks were rather casual with the removal of the old roofing shingles and some of them went through the plexi roof on my garden shed.
oh dear, watch he doesn’t spray you. If he gives you any trouble just set ABC on him
(I am assuming it’s a him, but I shouldn’t)
It is indeed a “he” and I will be the one dealing … seems to be my job. It will be fine in the end I am sure. Just one more thing to deal with.
I am heading out shortly to hand in the reams of paperwork I have been on about.
Tomorrow is a drive to a hospital for tests.
I’ll be back in touch in a few days friends.
Good luck with it all morgana!
Hi e’rybody!
hello stranger
I am not that strange.
That’s a matter of opinion. :p
ok, me go sleep now
hehe you are right. Some do find me strange.
Night night Garf.
