Hey Our Basement,
When things end, my tendency is to zero in on regret and the things that I feel I’ve missed out on. I wanted “Sainte Something” to focus instead on the hope and possibility that can come from endings. This is a song about looking beyond endings and appreciating the time that comes before them. It’s about enjoying the ride rather than worrying about what needs doing before you’re even done.
At the time that I wrote “Sainte Something,” I was fresh out of a relationship and just a few months away from finishing school and leaving Montreal, my home for the previous four years. I was thinking a lot about endings – how we cope with them, what they look like in retrospect, and whether they really measure up to the importance that I so often ascribe to them.
Thank you so much for listening! Our forthcoming self-titled EP is out on July 13th.
Bad Western
Good morning!
Hi garfield.
Hello
I liked the tune. (Yet another case of Montreal incubating anglo bands — not a bad thing, in my books.)
FB seems to be offline. Also, some links through reddit. So, the ‘system’ is down somewhere…
heh. I couldn’t get “internet down”. Because it’s on google, and g. is down…
No issues with either google.ca or the book of faces here
I was out with friend all morning so can’t contribute to the conversation on “the system”
Re Bad Western; quite enjoyable multi textured sounds made by real people with real instruments;), the name had me worried but now I am looking forward to them to being on the release radar next week.
Hiya!
How was everyone’s weekends? Mine wasn’t long enough but enjoyable.
I too enjoyed the Bad Western track. Reminds me a bit of Bears in Hazenmore from Sask. They will land on the next OurBasement Release Radar playlist indeed.
Too hot here, so I ended up staying indoors a lot. Watched more futbol games than ever before. Some were even good.
I only listend to the penalties for the England v Columbia game
I wish I had put some money on a draw after 90mins
It seems to be ridiculously hot out there. Not fun. The weather was very pleasant here but I didn’t get to the park.
My thermometer reads 34. And it’s sunny. The rhubarb patch is not happy.
Unseasonably cool here but I am ok with that; I guess I am a rhubarb.
I will take the cool any day over the heat, fires and smoke of last year!!
Chores here today; hubby is power washing the fence as we (we is not me) prepare for re-staining it. I think hiring a student would be best for the staining job.
I am trying to wash the inside of the windows in the house … arg, can’t bend and look up and can’t do any ladders so it is slow and only half a job but something. Going to need a lay down break soon ’cause it hurts:(
