Hey Our Basement,
On the day that I wrote “Ginger Ale,” I was sweaty, unemployed, broke, and in love. I was living in downtown Toronto during a heatwave, but was escaping the city whenever I got the chance, meeting my partner every weekend at this magical spot on the Nottawasaga River (right down the road from where I live now!) I started resenting living in the city – the noise, the traffic, the people, the prices, the heat. I felt like I could only truly relax and be myself when I was out in the countryside, and writing “Ginger Ale” was the result of having those feelings. I wanted the music video to capture what I felt when I got out of the city and found my people, my place, and my peace.
Feelin’ Freaky, our third full-length, drops on August 3rd, 2018 via Darling Recordings. It’s the product of feeling a variety of freaky emotions over the past couple of years – grief, heartbreak, hope, helplessness, jealousy, excitement, confusion – you name it, it’s in there. It’s inspired by the complicated ties that I have with my family, the passing of an extraordinary friend, the love I feel for my partner, the person I used to be, the person I have become. The album is diverse, as life tends to be, yet there is a common thread that holds it all together – an honest depiction of my truest feelings.
Feelin’ Freaky is fuelled by emotionally raw lyrics, but the influence of my incredible collaborators in Falcon Jane has turned sad songs into true plez rock. The chill vibes, righteous riffs, and groovy grooves are the result of five best friends hanging out and allowing each other to take risks and be vulnerable. I’m so grateful for that.

Hello
Good morning!
Hiya!
I like the playlist being on/from Soundcloud: I can play it all…
Thanks!
Yeah, I am thinking of using soundcloud for inbedded content alittle more
Sussex Gold is the best Ginger Ale in Canada, unfortunately not available outside the maritimes. I miss it.
ps – that’s a nice little song, ginger ale. pleasant summery vibes. The only thing I have a “problem” with is the line about getting some vegan ice cream. Just eat normal ice cream or gelato. If you want to be vegan, you need to drop things like ice cream and burgers. the new A&W Beyond Meat burger is annoying… just call it a veggie burger. If you want a burger that tastes like, has the texture of and looks like a meat burger … just eat a meat burger!
pps – thanks for the soundcloud as well. Spotify embeds are annoying if you don’t have it.
Hey folks.
I am in clean up and recovery mode from a week away that included three days of music festivaling.
Looked at yesterdays post to have a watch of Shred Kelly new video. Sage mentioned it on stage yesterday so I figured we would have a link here:)
I did not realize that they had undergone a lineup change until a fellow I recognize from my place (as a patron in the gym) of work walked onto stage at sat at the drum kit. Ha!
hi morgana. What festival were you at?
ppps – don’t take my vegan rant above as serious… mostly jokes haha.
I quite like that new song/video by Shred Kelly. I too noticed the new drummer, at least new from last fall when I most recently saw them perform.
@ft not fussed about your opinions on what to eat or not. your choice.
I was at Kaslo Jazz Etc Festival. Their web page probably has a ton of footage on this past weekend.
We could become FB friends and you can see a bunch of my videos and photo’s.
You may have to disregard some of my meat eater rants on FB though;)

interesting lay out of the band member page here …
Hi margana & ft
I was following some of the Jazz fest via you and them on the book of faces. It looked like fun, weird, but fun. I’m glad that no glitter balls were harmed in the making of Ms Barbers outfit.
hey morgana, ha! yeah, I don’t care what people choose to eat – I’ve got many a vegan friend. I must say I don’t understand the “beyond meat burger” at A&W though, and what makes a plant based burger different than a veggie burger – other than hipster marketing?
I’d friend you on fb … but I don’t know you real name! If you know me, feel free to send me a friend request!
@ft, message me on fb and I can connect you
@garfielduk weird AND fun!!
I know, Jill totally cracked me up. Not sure her husband was impressed with my FB jab however.
Oh, thanks for being our match maker too.
I am trying again to convince my phone to upload the videos and photo’s to my computer … I hope to be able to share day three soon.
For now I am going to enjoy the fact that it is just Suki and I at home for a few hours!
I might have gone to see SK in Manchester (last date) but i would have to spend a night there (no overnight transport back) and it’s a little too close to the date for the Neko Case show in Leeds
Give Suki a hug for, I am sans dog again
@garfielduk I noticed that concert date and was hoping you would be able to go. Tricky to pack it all in for sure. I hope you can make it work.
This was where Suki and her Dad human were over the weekend

She is passed out beside me as I type.
I’m not surprised she is tired if she had to manage an entire campsite of hoomans on her own
Kaslo, BC, nice. I’ve never been, closest would be Cranbrook area. I spent the long weekend at a friends “cabin” (I’ll be fortunate to ever own a house as big as it) on Kakagi Lake. What a lake. Clean, clear, fresh. unreal. Had a great time swimming and boating. My wife and some others put on a fundraiser concert at the local hall. I just happened to run into my buddy who has a cabin nearby too. Small world haha. Its a beautiful part of the world.
She has her ways;)
@ft my kid works at Blue Lake Forest Education camp which is in that area. It is a beautiful part of BC indeed.
Kaslo is pretty sweet too. If you look up the Lardeau Valley then you are finding where I like to run away too.
Hi all! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekends.
Spotify still works best for the playlists I make. Sorry blokes.
@morgana – Kaslo Fest looked like a lovely time. I hope you enjoyed it in it’s more reserved form for you.
@darbar Spotify works better for me as well. Sometimes they are here as a link that opens the playlist in Spotify which is my favourite because if I comment I can keep listening. Of course I have no idea how that works or doesn’t in the background but that is my half a cents worth on that subject.
The great thing about me being forced to take a back seat at Kaslo, literally, was that my kid was able to completely come out of her shell. She was dancing up front all weekend and got photo’s and merch from Buffy, Too Many Zooz, Carmanah and Shred Kelly.
Now about next year …. book your time off now:)
no problem darbarspecial, as a luddite I don’t take exception to that. It’s on me haha!
@morgan, I have the time, it’s the money that is lacking
I sound like a broken record
@garfielduk
It is usually one or the other for me and everyone that I know.
I have time right now but not so much the money side of things. That is why when my Mom asked what I wanted for my birthday this year I asked for us to go to Kaslo together. I don’t need stuff to dust and look after. Fun times with my family was perfect. I am pretty lucky.
I usually change the url to “play” from “open” when I post the Spotify playlists. I will try leaving it at just open and see how that works for people.
A man just came in to use our printer and started talking about Kaslo Fest out of the blue. He has a friend that went. Crazy! I am planning on next year. 😀
I don’t have time or money for much these days 🙁
@darbar
See! It needs to happen:)
I’ve been listening to Archipelago this aft, the new Shred Kelly album. (via youtube, which is how I listen to most music online) I like it, which is not surprising. They’re a good band.
Ciao!
I seem to be pointed in that direction morgana. haha
They are a good band. I am sad to hear of the drummer change. I really enjoyed watching him play.
@ft Ciao!
Glad you have been enjoying the latest album. Sing to the Night is still my favourite video though.
Nice to catch up with you today.
I have been reading up on Rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus today … the ER doctor who saw me twice last week suggested I talk to my GP about looking into/ getting tested for them. What a fun body I have! Time to take a break because my hand is too sore to type and my head is swimming with information I wish I wasn’t considering.
See you all tomorrow:)
I hope neither of those apply to you morgana. Try not to stress to much about it until you know.
