Craig Robertson – Late Mornings
Toronto singer/songwriter Craig Robertson has released a preview of his upcoming album Late Mornings in the form of a video for the track “Cheap Old Watch,” which we at Roots Music Canada are proud to premiere. The hauntingly beautiful clip, directed by Sean Ryan, captures the song’s moodiness brilliantly, with echoes of classic videos by R.E.M. and Bruce Springsteen.(Roots Music Canada)
Jim Bryson – Tired of Waiting
The six-song offering was written on a $100 guitar and recorded at Bryson’s own Fixed Hinge Studio with Jonas Bonnetta. It also features musical contributions from Arcade Fire’s Jeremy Gara, Scattered Cloud’s Philippe Charbonneau and Jamie Kronik.(Exclaim!)
Monster Truck – True Rockers
Two years have passed since the incredible Sittin’ Heavy was released and it’s been a busy period for the Monster Truck juggernaut. Touring with Deep Purple, Black Stone Chery, Jane’s Addiction, Alterbridge and playing Ramblin’ Man Fair, Download and Rock On The Range, to name a few, the band have been extremely busy so resorted to recording on the road.(R o c k ‘N’ L o a d)
Good morning! Today’s the day I get to go to Cityfolk (fest). Not a fan of big festivals, I couldn’t resist Tune-Yards, Ani Di Franco, Andy Shauf (2nd stage), Trampled by Turtles (2nd stage), and David Byrne & group. Should be a bit of alright.
hello
I hope you have a great day Benoit
Thanks! But it’s just an evening, from 6 pm on. Today, I’m cutting cedar branches with a long-pole pruner.
That sounds pretty alright to me too. Enjoy!
dar, actually, the cedar is sketchy as hell. Not maintained by my neighbour on whose property it grows, it has reached easily 20 feet in height. And my house is on a narrower plot than most, so not only is it close, but of course over many years the cedar’s crowded in.
So I have to extend a ladder and lean it into swaying cedar (against the house is too steep, and turns your back to the job), then bring up either that pruner mentioned above or maybe just long-handled loppers. It’s, um, adventurous. I do things very slowly…
It’s still enjoyable though. Smells great…
I would love to try and make something from that wood
I’m going to see Metallica tonight!

I once bought a ‘cedar egg’, i.e. in that shape. It was sold as a clothes drawer bug repellent and smellgood. It was claimed that you’d rub it and it would renew the smell.
Never worked much.
In Eastern Canada, at least the Ontario-Québec that I know, cedar is (was?) mostly used for purposes involving wet rot resistance. Fences, docks, and yea, still, shingles. Then called, I think, mostly (or is it American?) ‘cedar shakes’.
those two Monster Truck songs were all right but I do find they have become increasingly cheesy. The one featuring Dee Snider was kinda lame tbh.
Do cedar shakes come with regular milk or only soy?
Is it a sign that you have spent too much time wandering around Toron’o when you recognise a close(ish) view of a street map in youtube video?
Re cedar shakes: no (haha), but let me direct you toward spruce beer. It tastes of spruce.
The idea just hit me — very sueable in the States it would be — that there should be such a beverage that was called Spruce Bringsteen.
Or wooden beer mugs called bringsteins
I didn’t think my idea was that bad!
