Good morning Our Basement,
“It’s Not Real” is where everything started, about three years ago when I first moved to Toronto. It’s a song about change and how surreal it was to relocate from rural British Columbia to a big city. The first single to be taken from my forthcoming EP1, and I’m happy to share “It’s Not Real” with you today!
I like to produce and write everything myself to establish the mood, lyrics, and core of each song. But I find that if I include other people — send a demo off to one of my friends to add a synth line or a guitar part — the songs get a more rounded, multi-dimensional sound.
Written between 2016-2018 and recorded both at home and Humber Recording Studios, my hope is that some people will listen to EP1 as a cohesive piece. It may only be an EP, but the lyrics and narrative are meaningful and intentional – I hope that can get across to someone.
Thank you for listening. EP1 will be released on October 25th.

hello
Good day!
Hiya!
I just checked out that video on streaming services sound. Interesting indeed. Spotify seems to be what I will stick with for now for ease of sharing playlists. I do plan to check out Tidal some more though. Now to check out the track of the day up there.
Hmm not sure if that track is my thing. I will check out the EP when it is out though.
Well, not to complain (he wrote, fully intending to complain), but last night through today’s the period when the consequence of collecting myself on my back after flipping off my bike, hurts. Slept little and badly, spent the day on the couche going ‘arrrrrgh’ pretty well whenever moved. Got some more muscle relaxant + ibuprofen.
Tomorrow should be better; things may already be getting a bit less ouchy.
Not fun Benoit. Take it easy for a few days and heal up.
Dar, well, yesterday I worked and kept moving, with almost no hurt. But overnight (24-36 hours), the affected muscle really tightened up. A classic. It seems to me that it doesn’t last into another day.
(And really, it’s not much of an injury, I find I got away lucky from this spill; but it does hurt. That’ll learn me.)
It usually hits me a couple days after. I think I am fine the day after and then the day after that I am hurting. Yes keep moving but don’t over do it. By the sound of it, you were lucky it wasn’t worse.
I (happily) tend to take body falls those rare times I do fall. Thankfully no head contact (me without a helmet).
Oh Benoit, I hope you feel a lot less ouchy very soon! Legit complaining I would say. I have some tablets left from when I fractured my ribs but you may forget where your head is after taking them so won’t offer them … and because that would be totally illegal.
It’s Not Real; very effective sliding vocal and back up sounds to emphasize the dreamy, sliding away into anonymity feeling of the big city. same thoughts as @darbar as to me going back for more.
NO HELMET!! Yes, I am shouting at you.
