Tomorrow will see the release of Shanika Maria’s fourth single, Anti-Adulthood, from her forthcoming full length album, Subtle Uncertainties.
While currently living in Toronto, Shanika is originally from Hamilton. She started been honing her skills playing and performing around Southern Ontario in 2014 before going on to release her debut EP, Childish Games, in the summer of 2017. The EP was a mix of mostly folk-acoustic tunes along with the title track pop single.
Shanika is set to release her full length album ,Subtle Uncertainties, on Jan 11th, 2019. This upcoming album seeks to blur the lines of putting her music in a box. Subtle Uncertainties is a more produced, fuller sound that embodies different sounds and styles that range from pop electronic, beach rock, dark country and folk with support from Hamilton producer Aaron Hutchinson. The music production is supplemented with Shanika’s ideas and thoughts on themes of empowerment, societal expectation and relationships.
Hello
Good morning. I’ve been without a ‘puter for a few days: finally had the operating system updated. That’s a mitigated thing though, given my 2009 iMac is considered very old (unsurprisingly); it had gotten to work very poorly, so old was the OS — I couldn’t get a Firefox update anymore, for instance).
Now, things have come back to much more normal functioning. Niiiiice.
Damn! Still a rogue closing parenthesis in my previous!
Good morning all.
Glad your computer is closer to normal Benoit.
I’m going to admit to my subconscious bias. I was prepared to dislike the music posted above, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed it. I’ll have to listen to more of Shanika Maria.
Ya, Scott, fun. I was having to force-quit FF all the time, and then restart the ‘puter, so as to clear the buffer.
No more. Very nice. I can even listen to CBC Music, aka ‘R3’! Never could since its automation, years ago.
Good morning!
There is some interesting stuff going on in the Shanika Maria’s tracks up there. Glad you took a listen and found you enjoyed it Scott. I have had that surprised enjoyment before.
Yay for updating your computer Benoit. And R3 will even play for you now! I have a work computer that I can’t update the OS on anymore and it is becoming a problem with software for it now. It’s still working fine otherwise. I have a dead iMac at home that I should get checked out at some point, but my laptop is doing alright.
darbar, why don’t you go to an independent computer repairer and see about “upgrading” — buying not a new, but a much more modern computer? Stretching things (such as I’ve just done, probably for the one and only time, to mine) only goes so far until your hardware capabilities are overcome. (My update cost me only some 200 bucks including backup, while Apple apparently wouldn’t even have looked at a four year old ‘puter of theirs. Let alone a 2009…)
I had three Apple issues last night; Apple TV not working, IPad so old it would not run Netflix and 2010 “big Mac” also would not run Netflix. I ended up going through all of the suggested fixes. The last one was to install a different browser. Technology is great when it works. I really enjoyed my book last night.
@morgana, I am willing to help with your tech issues, no call out fee but I do charge milage
morgana, I suggest you update your operating system, which was and may still be free, but would cerianly improve the functioning of your big Mac. It does necessitate being registered in with iTunes (which is free). You might start by simply checking on the web about “updating iMac OS”, or some such. It’ll tell you if its possible.
(You’ll have first clicked on the ‘apple’ symbol, upper left, and gotten info “About this Mac” — the OSX series name and the version number.)
hey guys.
@benoit, i have indeed the operating system a few times. It does help for sure. I believe last nights issues had more to do with the universe plotting to get me back into my book;) Why else would all three devices flake out on the same night.
This morning I also realized that the light was still on on the Apple TV box so I did the unplug plug back in thing and it is happier now … the iPad has yet to be addressed today.
Thank you for the suggestion. I am glad your computer is working better too!
@GarfieldIT
virtual milage?
Sorry I ran away again!
My home desktop will have to be upgraded at some point. The work ones will too. One has a later OS than the other but they both are getting old. My bosses don’t have much money either. Business has been slow which is why I work for two studios now.
@morgana – Things always seem to cause troubles or break down at the same time. So frustrating!
