Our first playlist for 2019 is all about being New and Rejuvenated. It may have been started another year but it has been renewed with fresh tracks added to it. New songs from Whitehorse, Michael Rault, Ellevator, Tokyo Police Club, Donovan Woods, Shad and more are on the playlist. There are songs ringing in the new year, new starts and beginnings, changes, and hopes and dreams for the future. Hours of great Canadian Indie music to help get you ready for the year.
2018 was a year of new discoveries on OurBasement. Many new artists are reaching out to us and we love to let you know about them. I expect that will continue on in 2019 as well. If you have an idea for blog posts or playlists, please let us know. We welcome any new contributors and/or ideas to the blog. In the meantime, Garry and I will continue on doing our thing. I would like to thank everyone that has been a part of the blog, by posting comments, reading posts, listening to new tracks and playlists, sharing the posts etc. We very much appreciate you.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Happy New Year to you also, even if a little late…
Thanks for the new playlist
Just a few days late but the year is still new.
Thanks for listening to it Scott!
It is the first Friday of the new year.
Here is something that may be of interest and should create some debate.

Ooh I am not sure I am a fan of this. I can see it being useful as a starting point maybe.
I’m not sure but it sounded like that was what she was doing. Modifying the composition that the program spit out.
I suppose the human element is still there, as to what the public actually wants to listen to.
There is also the issue of live concerts. Music listened to live has a different energy level than recordings.
Very true. I do prefer live music most of the time. I don’t have a problem if it is used as a tool to compose the music but I would prefer if humans were making the music. Interesting stuff. Thanks for the link.
Hello
well, if that song by her is an example of AI music, I’m good without it, thanks
I had a similar feeling about it krib!
Later in the interview they play part of a piece by Bach and the an AI composition based on Bach’s music.
I found it hard to tell the difference, of course it is just piano. I’m sure an entire orchestration would be more challenging.
It was hard to tell the difference in that example. If both arrangements were played by humans on real instruments, I highly doubt I would care if it was composed by human or computer.
I’ll see you guys at the end of January.
I’m off to China for work & then the Dominican for holidays.
Have a good month.
safe travels Scott
Wow! Have a good time at work and play!
