Our Basement,
What am I contributing to the next generation? What wounds have I healed or do I need to heal in myself so I can pass on the lessons as opposed to the hurt?
My new song, “Daughter,” is about the cycles of abuse that we bear witness to and endure. All people deserve to be treated with respect. The ability and power to create this relationship is within each of us, and is a direct result of the relationship that we have with ourselves.
I recorded the track at Echoplant Studios in Port Coquitlam, B.C. with award-winning producer Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, Said The Whale, Mathew V) and my amazing band – Michael Meroniuk (Guitar) and Jan Orsag (Keys, Ableton Live). We’re like a family and had a great vibe in the studio. It felt like a creative oasis. We have great respect and care for each other; not only did I feel understood as an artist, I felt supported and strengthened.
“Daughter” is the latest single to be shared from my upcoming Real Eyes EP, out March 29th. I think that the process of growing as a person and an artist is continuously uncovering our truth; to realize and decode the lies we tell ourselves to become closer to who we are. The more we face ourselves in those uncomfortable moments—our anger, our fear, our loneliness—the more we learn about what is true for us.
Sophia Danai
hello
Good Morning,
Still listening to your Juno playlist Garf. I’m about a third of the way through.
I’m up to the Allison Au Quartet which is quite nice.
Good Morning. I like this track from Sophia Danai.
The car seems to be working today and the water seems to have stopped leaking. Things are looking up!
Off to the other studio for a few hours. I will check back later. Have a good one!
Ya, nice song, nice voice, the two go well together
And good morning or afternoon. Driving, i.e. traffic, was legendary in Ottawa this morning. I had to drive 3 times the distance just to get there (my garage), and I ended up making the right choice to get it done. I’m talking backups for miles. Kilometres, evaaaan…
Riding my bike back was also interesting, but thankfully, the ride was more or less trafficless, on main roads; and cars and big trucks are being kind.
Sofia up there has a very Sixties look to her — the glasses, the jacket, the hair…
The Sixties in France, maybe
It’s quiet in here.
sorry, I was napping
No worries, I just got back from lunch myself.
I could do with something to eat
I had my usual a yogurt, & a carrot with a banana for dessert.
I went out to get my hair cut & ate while driving to save time.
Ssssshhhh, we don’t want them to know that we can multitask
Actually everyone can multitask, otherwise your heart would only beat when you weren’t breathing.
You know what I mean
“Multitasking” applies to activities that require your attention. As in texting and driving (and getting killed).
Otherwise, you’re of course quite right, and it goes down very far, past stomach preparing food, and signalling the brain later on; then there’s all the bacteria in our gut, etc. All of them moving and doing coordinated jobs we have no idea about.
The body as a self-driving automobile… Self-repairing, too.
Sorry, I’m just being silly. It’s slow day at work.
Yes, the body is a pretty amazing machine. There is lots going on that we don’t know about. The scientist’s / medical profession probably only understand a portion of whats going on even now.
well everybody knows that science is made up
It’s made up.
Of experiments and observations.
Benoit is exactly right, which is why we sometimes get things so wrong. It depends on what you can observe (macro / micro), and the repeat ability of experiments.
How so many humans and other creatures are born with all those parts put together properly amazes me. I never thought about that until I had my son who wasn’t “put together” completely right. All the things that have to be formed and made into a being just boggles my mind. It was also because of my son, I discovered there was much we don’t know about.
I ended up staying longer at that other place.
Devin is the normal one, it’s the rest of us that have issues 🙂
Ha! His brain I could use it’s his guts I wouldn’t want. That is what a psychologist told me when he was young though. Devin is handling it fine, It’s you that has the problem. :p
I remember being told that my childhood psychologist thought that I would be good with my hands
poorly constructed sentence is constructed poorly
You guys are a hoot today!
I too am all to cognizant of how complicated our bodies are and how little we actually know about them.
I was at a meeting for a few hours this afternoon and am exhausted now.
Nap!
I quite enjoyed the Sophia Danai tune up there.
@morgana – Have a good nap!
@Garf- I am not going near that hands comment. hehe
