Happy International Women’s Day!
Right now is a great and important time in history to do everything possible to help forge a more gender-balanced world. Women have come a long way, yet there’s still more to be achieved. As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, activity is underway celebrating women’s achievements and tenaciously challenging bias.
The International Women’s Day 2019 campaign theme of #BalanceforBetter is a call-to-action for driving gender balance across the world. (from International Women’s Day site)
Watch one of the fabulous videos that celebrate the day.
Our playlist this week features a lot of great music from a lot of very talented Canadian women. Most of the tracks are from solo female artists but many are from bands with a strong female lead singer and a few are instrumental tracks from female musicians.
I love what these talented women bring to the table and would love to see more women not only making music but working in the music industry. There has been a call for more gender parity in the music business on and off the stage. With all the talented women out there, it shouldn’t be too hard. Check out the playlist and help celebrate women with music.
Thanks for the playlist DarBar.
Oh, and Good Morning
hello, thank you DBS
Good morning and you’re welcome!
Hello!
Super busy place again. Slow down! I can’t keep up
Me, I was out ‘cedaring’ again, with Friday Morning Cartunes on the Koss earphones.
Still peerless. John played an entire-side cut from the first The Collectors album. It — What Love (Suite) — was truly epic, I’ve never heard it before. Anyway…
Sounds like a pretty good way to spend your time. I am in a dungeon working away.
Yeah, it’s a beautiful day here in my little lee of the wind: sunny, creeping up to -3 (if I believe them); early Spring stuff.
Still, this afternoon, instead of getting backt o the cedars, I’ll ride downtown for a couple of errands. Should be nice, but will probably also be a little splashy. Ah well. The mountain bike makes it real easy and fun when it’s not really cold.
And sympathy about your dungeon. I hope there aren’t any whips or, um, comfy chairs? (cf. “Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!”)
Haha!
We are finally getting some warm weather here as well. It’s about time!
I found this on the CBC site under Kate’s 5 fun things to do this weekend.
Wasn’t someone from the Kramdens around here for awhile, or was that just at R3?
Various locations, downtown Guelph
See music in some of the usual spots, like Brothers Brewing, Jimmy Jazz, Red Brick Cafe or Dstrict (The Kramdens are playing the Friday night show — some of you might recognize the lead singer), or some unconventional spots, like Apple Salon. There are so many bands packed into just one weekend so plan accordingly.
You’re thinking of Craig Norris, R3 indeed, now with CBC Radio Guelph (more or less, the name)
Stevie Knox was around here at our basement in the early days.
True, could’ve been Steve Knox…
