Hey Our Basement,
Sometimes the best way to cope with loneliness is to focus all of your energy into something you really care about and blind yourself with a ‘for better or worse’ mentality.
“Drug Dealer” was born from a feeling of hopelessness in a small, shitty one-store-town where the only thriving business is the local drug trade. It’s about feeling stuck, full of envy and betrayal as you watch the only people you care about move on.
This song was produced at Catherine North Studios. That place is heaven for a writer like me. The big old church is vibey as hell and has hosted some of the best artists in Canada. I feel very privileged to call it a home away from home.
I can’t wait to share the finished product of this EP with you. I’ve been busy writing so in the infamous words of Scar from The Lion King… be prepared.

Hello
Good Morning
Good day!
How is everyone?
I’m busy thinning down last weeks release list from Allmusic for next weeks radio show
Righto
Good morning. Made it a mission to be here when more of you guys are. West coast time zone combined with my late mornings has me missing all of you most of the time so … but don’t expect me to be too awake or anything.
Yesterday I was listening to CD’s from two of my favourites from Tiny Lights Festival;
https://open.spotify.com/album/6KAWwdOWnMa1Adt96jQxQo?si=_K1cuucZSz6iFjEGNmo6Iw (amazing live!!)
https://open.spotify.com/album/6SVeCBELPZSeSyO8RCbSOV?si=gdaVnVP0R9KChp9bQcBsRQ
I seriously surprised myself by liking Kimmortal. Yes, she raps but she also has an amazing voice that she let out during live performances. Recordings not so much. Hello Moth was cool as was Tairq and Noah Derksen. I was very sad to not be able to make it to the second day in perticualr because I did not see Wax Mannequin.
Hi Morgana
Good morning @GarfieldUK. Your radio show is a regular weekly now?
yes, If I get it recorded and sent in on time
the 2 days a week on courses (counseling and attachment) along with me being in London this weekend isn’t helping the time crunch
Garf, I for one am glad you’re busier than before.

@Garf that is a lot to keep up with. Enjoy it! Don’t overdo it of course. Mom’s have to say that sort of thing.
What is going on in London this weekend?
@B form O neato! fun little sample drop there.
there are 2 MLB games taking place in London this weekend and I was hoping to get a ticket to one of them but I will have to make do with hanging around outside the stadium to see if any home run balls escape the athletics/soccer stadium they are playing in.
I hear the Cubs might be playing in the London games next year so I should try and see if I can make friends with a season ticket holder for early access to ticket sales.
@GarfieldUK have yourself a great weekend! Mine are designed to be dull for a while. I will be helping morgana jr get her ducks in a row for her imminent departure.
anyone have shows this weekend?
Not me, Morgana,
It’s along weekend but I think it will dedicated to yard work. There’s hedge that needs a haircut and some trees need limbing to let a little light into the woodland garden.
sorry above should read “it is a long weekend”
You never know who will be performing at the Canada Day celebrations …. must have been ten years ago I saw Dan Mangan at our little towns celebration in the park.
I’ll let the grammar go this time;)
I too have yard work to catch up on. No trees to trim but lot’s of dead heading, fertilizing, transplanting out baby lettuce and I have a few pots I need mr morgana to move around too. Happy outside stuff. Speaking of which … I’m going to putter a little now. What music shall I play?
The Burning Hell are playing near Kings Cross Station in London on Sunday night and my bus home leaves at 23:45 so I might try to catch them then jump in a cab to catch my bus
Solid plan @GarfieldUK. Have a blast!
I was just going outside to enjoy my garden … the city is breaking up a sidewalk with a jackhammer; super peaceful.
just remember that the noise now will make you appreciate the peace later even more (if only for a short time)
Aaron Godvin is headlining Barries Canada day party.
The Barrie Concert Band is performing a free concert at Meridian Place. (outdoor venue in the town square)
Breaking up sidewalks is not good gardening listening. My wife prefers if I cut the grass sometime other than when she is in her garden. (which basically means when shes asleep)
I went to see who was playing at our Canada Day celebrations and found a page I have not looked at before
https://www.nelsonkootenaylake.com/see-and-do/events/annual-events
we have a lot going on for a smallish community!
The sidewalk cement destruction turned out to be just grinding down the edges of sections that have been lifted by tree roots. It only lasted a few hours. Noting that Arcade Fire in the earbuds couldn’t handle;) I did take several breaks inside too.
I saw on FB that Broken Social Scene is performing a free concert for Canada Day
https://indie88.com/broken-social-scene-to-play-free-show-at-harbourfront-centre-on-canada-day/
man it would be great to be at that party!
@scott best not to mess with a gardeners good time, they have sharp tools.
Every once in a while I try a radio station; bloody commercials! I’m out.
Oh, I am also out of here for the day.
night everybody
CBC 1 just played Common People. Brings back…
But she only mentioned Shatner, not Ben Folds who produced the damned thing, nor Joe Jackson, whom Folds brought in, and who propels the song bigly when it threatens to get repetitive.
Oops, garf gone…
