Hi Our Basement,
“Less of Me,” like most of my music, was inspired simply by my need to make sense of a lot of inward negativity, feelings of deep-seated inadequacy.
There’s a duality in “Less of Me.” These dichotomies are birthed out of inward reflection and quickly put to rest by outward reflection. No matter how inadequate I have felt, there are a million ways to feel smaller. What I’ve learned is that you can let such a notion overwhelm you, or you can let it humble you.
In the song, I’m attempting to articulate that no matter how dearly you hold someone, your love can be easily compromised at the hands of your own self-loathing. One needs to learn to love and respect themselves in order to love fully unto another, otherwise one cannot trust the heart and mind within that allow us such joys as love. This is a concept I still often struggle with, but its recognition was pivotal in my continuance.
“Less of Me” is off of Miasma, my forthcoming debut LP.
It features appearances by some great musicians like Daniel Romano, Aaron Goldstein, Aaron Comeau, Carleigh Aikins, and Arif Mirabdolbaghi. Aaron Goldstein also produced the album, while the record was mixed by the talented Christopher Stringer, and mastered by Grammy-nominee Philip Shaw Bova.
This year I’d love to tour and get to see more of the world and meet folks from all over by means of doing what I love.
Keep singing,

Yawn, that was a wonderful long weekend of music and friendship. Kaslo Jazz Etc Fest was a great opportunity to build a friendship with @darbar and @fishhat.
My top three from the festival (warning some non cannon)
Dan Brubeck
Pigs and Crows
Khruagbin
So many other great musicians and stories (tree limbs falling and stopping the festival for a few hours, a missing child lockdown of the site, going back stage and rubbing elbows and riding in the tour bus with three of Shred Kelly) from the weekend but you know me … off to water the garden. If you have anything or anyone you would like to know about let me know.
Sounds like a great weekend indeed! For me, recently, it was Parker Millsap and his fine band. Really good, do not miss if he comes up!
@BfromO
It was great even if a bit too many tertiary events that certainly wore me down.
Where did you hear Parker? Genre?
Parker Millsap I saw advertised at the 27 Club (the old Zaphod’s). He’s American rock n roll with occasional tinges of country or folk-roots. Not dissimilar from Bruce Springsteen (but much younger, maybe 23, 3rd record). A really good voice that takes several songs to reveal itself. I suggest you look him up on Youtube. Not to be missed, I’d say, although his current tour is North-East US and a bit of Canada.
