The playlist this week is the fourth in a series of playlists where we are checking out Canadian Independent Record Companies and the artists they represent. We have checked out Arts and Crafts, Constellation Records, and Dine Alone Records so far. This month we are hearing from Canadian artists with Last Gang Records. I have found it interesting to hear the sounds that each label leans towards. Last Gang doesn’t have a specific genre but there are a lot of electronic/synth/dub/dance type artists with them. There should be some dancing happening as we listen to this one.
Last Gang is a music company founded by Canadian music industry lawyer Chris Taylor and concert promoter Donald K. Tarlton in 2003 and credited with launching the careers of Metric, Death From Above 1979, MSTRKRFT and Crystal Castles. The company is also well known for its work with Arkells, Ryan Hemsworth, Purity Ring, Lights, and Chromeo.
It was acquired by Entertainment One in March 2016, with Taylor being appointed the new president of eOne Music.
Some artists stay with the one label their whole career and others move around. I tried to find songs from an album that was with Last Gang for each artist but I may not have got them all right. Check out their list of artists at Last Gang Records website and get your dance shoes on and listen to the playlist below.
Or listen to the longer list in alphabetical order.
Thanks Dar
You’re welcome Scott! 😀
The station isn’t licensed for me to share the radio show recordings. I thought it was probably the case.
I did have a practice home recording that had nothing to do with the station. It was my first attempt and I learned a lot and borrowed my son’s girlfriend’s usb mic after that one. I figured out how to work with the software more too. It has kept me busy figuring out some new things.

Cool Thanks Dar.
It’s not great but gives an idea of what my radio show is like. I use playlists for the blog to get my tracks for the show.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Thanks for checking out the playlist. 🙂
