Our Basement,
“On the Dance Floor” is an ode to Toronto dating life – a collection of moments celebrating the people enjoying themselves in this city, and its nightlife.
My new song carries the complexity of a variety of unique instances; exciting one night stands, long-running relationships, and wistful missed opportunities too.
Produced by Juno winner and Polaris prize nominee John Critchley (Dan Mangan, Elliott BROOD), the beautiful fiddle and pedal steel work were done by Kenny Feinstein and Tommy Drinkard of Water Tower, respectively.
“On the Dance Floor” is the lead single from my upcoming album, …And the Country Stirred.
Watch above, capturing the themes of love and acceptance with clips that reflect the tenderness of the song as a whole. Director Linda Badgley created something really wonderful, and inclusive, that feels firmly Torontonian & Canadian.
Thank you,
Alex Southey
Good morning people!
Good Morning Dar.
Hi Scott. How’s things in your world? Are you ready for Fall?
Hey Dar, Fall is here whether I’m ready or not. I have to start closing the pool this week, then winterize the camper. It’s a busy time of year for sure.
I have to deal with my camper. Shouldn’t take much, I didn’t get it out at all this year. :-/
I had a huge branch come down at the house, that I have to deal with as well. I still feel like summer just started and now it is gone. Our weather should be pleasant this wee though.
