Q1. Would you like to introduce yourself?
My name is Karen Lee Batten. I am a singer/songwriter based out of Langley, British Columbia, Canada. I recently released my new single, “Too Strong”, co-written with Jeff Johnson, Mitch Merrett, and Chad Kroeger. It’s just out now on Canadian radio!
I drive a black Jeep Wrangler with big tires, and I love my dogs and sushi. My girlfriends are my rock, my Mom and Husband are my best friends, and my brother once told me at Christmas that if he pinched my nose in his new pliers, it wouldn’t hurt at all. I was 3 and he was 6 and that was about the first time I found out what a lie was – hah! He wrapped them up and gave them to me for a Christmas present when I was 27. I have since forgiven him.
Q2. Are you a good cook?
Does baking count? Ha! I used to be a decent cook and then… I married a chef. So, I gladly handed over the gloves, but I do love to bake from time to time. The only problem with baking… is that it has to be eaten too! So I try not to do it all that much.
Q3. If you could relive one moment in your life, which would it be?
I would love to live one day in the life of myself at 5 years old at Christmas – not the pliers Christmas!
How great would it be to get all bundled up in that one piece snow suit again? Then take that thin little plastic sheet sled and go ripping down a hill of snow. I would for sure break something if I tried that now! Then, come inside so cold and so tired after all day outside – with snow stuck all over from head to toe – and peel off all those layers of wet clothes off, go into the family room where the fire is burning and have Grandma hand you a cup of hot chocolate with at least 8 little marshmallows in it.
That… is what I want to relive again.
Q4. What are your phobias?
Spiders and Sharks.
Q5. What things embarrass you?
When I can’t remember someone’s name. And not gonna lie, I have fallen a couple of times in public. The last time, I was by myself running across a busy road and my puppy tripped me and I went flying! That… was embarrassing, yup!
Q6. When did you last have a hair cut?
About 6 weeks ago. My hair is so curly that I don’t even know if you would call it a cut… it’s more like a dusting. If I cut my hair much, it bounces up like 5 times the cut, so I never take off much!
Q7. Would you rather eat 2 cloves of garlic or 6 spoons of cod liver oil?
Garlic 100%, but as long as I don’t have to talk to anyone for a couple of days!
Q8, And, most importantly, what is your favourite type of cookie?
Macadamia nut and white chocolate……. YUM!!
