Our Basement,
One of the best places I like to listen to music is while driving.
It’s just you, the road, and the music.
My latest single is ideal to put on when you’re getting ready, whether you’re on the way to your day job or going out.
“The Judge” is my first funk-influenced pop song. It exists to uplift you and get you energized for whatever you are going to be doing.
I collaborated on this track with Liel Bar-Z, who provided vocals and wrote the song’s lyrics. I usually produce songs starting with the instrumental but in this case it was up to me to create a track to match the vocals and show my capabilities as a producer.
The bass line is the driving force behind “The Judge,” contributing rhythmically via a call and response with the vocals. Including saxophone and trumpet solos harkens back to my days performing in middle and high school jazz bands. Once I had added those elements, the song felt truly complete.
I hope that you connect with the lyrics’ message, which is that the past is the past.
Let’s not worry about what has happened and instead enjoy the present, as well as what the future has to offer!
