Hi Our Basement,

“dreadful sorry clemency” is an exploration of the loss of mercy, lenience, and forgiveness. I began writing it at the onset of winter in Toronto.

The harshness of this city and the Canadian winter can serve, at times, as fine metaphors for the compromise and understanding that comes with adulthood.

This song drew from the feeling of isolation that can be perpetuated in the city, as well as through a lack of empathy.

Although my favourite season, winters here can be hard, especially in this past year or so we’ve all just had.

Yet we get through them and survive with a little bit of warmth, compassion, and care for one another.
