The Polaris Music Prize Short List will be revealed on Thursday, July 14. The playlist today has my Polaris Music Prize Short LIst Wish List. I was only 1/5 on my ballot for the Long List this year. I am disappointed that Megan Nash’s Soft Focus Futures, Royal Canoe’s Sidelining, Trampoline’s All The People in This House and Sarah Neufeld’s Detritus didn’t make it on the Long List but there are other albums for me to champion for.

I had a lot of listening to do and it was very difficult to narrow the 40 on the Long List down to my 10 for the Short List. There were a couple of albums that I was sure I was voting for but there were a dozen more that I was considering. The Garrys’ Get Thee to a Nunnery remained at the top of my ballot. Moving on to my ballot was OMBIIGIZI’s Sewn Back Together, Pierre Kwender’s José Louis And The Paradox Of Love, Lydia Képinski’s Depuis, and Shad’s TAO.
