This week, we’re diving back into our festival series, immersing ourselves in the vibrant sounds of three distinct winter celebrations: Contact Winter Music Festival in Vancouver, Get Together Holiday Massive in Edmonton, and Big Winter Classic in Calgary. These festivals, happening in the heart of winter, aim to elevate the season with their unique musical offerings.
Contact Winter Music Festival, taking place from December 27-28, stands out as the largest indoor music festival in Canada, drawing over 35,000 attendees to Vancouver for two days of winter beats. Festival-goers can expect state-of-the-art technical production, pyrotechnics, and awe-inspiring lighting that transforms the winter nights into a musical spectacle.
Get Together Holiday Massive, scheduled for December 28, promises a night of wild and energetic dance music in Edmonton, providing a festive atmosphere for dance enthusiasts to revel in.
Meanwhile, Big Winter Classic, occurring from January 24-28, 2024, in Calgary, was conceived to celebrate the city year-round, breaking away from the notion that festivities are limited to the fleeting summer months. This four-day winter wonderland extravaganza brings together arts, music, local beer, and eager audiences in a celebration of Calgary’s creative spirit.
As customary, we’ve curated a playlist featuring the Canadian artists gracing these festivals. In this edition, we’re testing the waters with Tidal Music as we consider transitioning away from Spotify. However, not all artists have migrated to Tidal, and unfortunately, embedding it directly into the blog post proved challenging. We appreciate your understanding as we explore this transition.
Initially, the focus was on the first two electronic festivals towards the end of the month. However, our discovery revealed a limited number of Canadian artists participating, with even fewer having recordings on Spotify. Despite these constraints, we’ve compiled a playlist on Tidal Music, Spotify, YouTube, and a selection of tracks on Soundcloud. With this array of options, we hope you find a platform that suits your musical preferences.
Join us in experiencing the winter festival vibes and discovering the diverse sounds of these Canadian artists. Whether you’re a seasoned festival-goer or exploring from the comfort of your home, this playlist promises to infuse your winter with the warmth of exceptional music.
